PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION
Reporting to the Associate Director of Advancement Communications, the Assistant Director for Digital Engagement is a highly imaginative and versatile storyteller that will execute online engagement and fundraising strategies that increase engagement, influence inclination, and drive giving behavior among alumni and other key constituencies. The Assistant Director will provide critical communications support to the Advancement division, including email marketing for events, volunteer programs, and special initiatives and will serve as the Class Notes and Alumni News author for WNE Magazine . They will also assist with the design, creation, and editing of multimedia assets, post audience-driven content on the Office of Advancement’s social media channels, and update web content on the alumni website that is in accordance with our approved strategic marketing plan and objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Manage the Advancement Division’s social media presence across Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn; collaborating with other campus communicators and serving as a subject matter expert for social media. Provide email marketing for Alumni Engagement events, volunteer programs, and special initiatives, developing creative, brand-aligned content to support engagement goals Manage key components of WNEgives and other event-based annual giving initiatives, including development of social media content, management of social ambassadors, and development of video content. In collaboration with the Associate Director of Advancement Communications, support the Advancement Division’s website and online presence on the University website and/or other third-party platforms, proactively curating fresh and relevant content. Spearhead efforts to expand digital alumni engagement opportunities, including current and future technologies to support a variety of online engagement including online communities, online networking/mentoring, virtual events, etc. Support the development of a library of written stories and videos of educational content, impact stories, and donor testimonials to be shared within a variety of formats that showcase the breadth, depth, and diversity of philanthropy at WNE. Assist the Associate Director of Advancement Communications with the execution of Advancement writing, including but not limited to: alumni news, emails, solicitations, and more. Support the execution of Crowdfunding and student philanthropy initiatives, developing social media content in partnership with the Annual Giving Officer and the Associate Director for Advancement Communications. Serve as a key member of the WNE Magazine project team, with primary responsibilities as Class Notes creator, author of Alumni News, and participant in editorial planning, proofing, and production process. Work with the Advancement Department to capture, create, and edit high-quality visual images/videos to be used for Advancement purposes, such as monthly newsletters, inclusion in WNE Magazine and other platforms as needed to evoke strong emotions and inspire target audiences.
MARGINAL DUTIES
Serve as a positive ambassador for the University and its mission to alumni, donors, students and friends. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Advancement Communications.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Bachelor’s degree required 1-3 years of experience in higher education, non-profit, fundraising, marketing, or related field preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES
Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously, managing time to meet deadlines. Willingness to take initiative, keep a positive attitude, and maintain a professional demeanor. Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication. Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to quality and customer service. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, and to accept direction. Demonstrated ability to use computers, internet, and email. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Suite (Photoshop and video editing tools) and alumni/donor database systems, and ability to learn new systems. Availability to work some evenings and weekends as required.
ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS
Sitting, standing, bending, walking, climbing stairs, and reaching as expected in normal office setting. Occasional lifting, not to exceed 25 pounds. Operation of computer keyboard and monitor.
