Job Description
NORTHAMPTON
Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs Reporting to theDean of Multicultural Affairs and Director of the Mellon MaysUndergraduate Fellowship, develop, coordinate, and facilitate studentengagement programming to lead initiatives that focus on studentdevelopment and implement programs and resources that support the workof all recognized cultural heritage organizations. Collaborate withcampus partners from the faculty, staff, and student communities toidentify and implement various activities and educational opportunitiesthat support diversity and inclusion within a social justice advocacycontext. Serve on the Cromwell Day Committee. Minimum Qualifications(knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses):
Bachelor’s degree required, and a Master’s degree preferred, in highereducation administration or related field preferred with 3-5 yearsexperience in multicultural or social justice education or an equivalentcombination of education and experience. Have solid leadership skills, apassion for helping and mentoring students, and experience in trainingand experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred, in highereducation administration or related field preferred
Skills:
Demonstratean ability to communicate, both orally and in writing; exerciseeffective independent professional judgment; establish and maintaincollaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, students, andstudent organizations; and relate successfully in one-on-one and groupsituations with persons representing diverse backgrounds and interests.
Show knowledge of principles, practices, and theories of studentlearning and development and understand students’ cultural, social,recreational, and educational needs. Illustrate an understanding ofleadership theory with the ability to integrate it into practice andstudent programs.

While performing the duties ofthis job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Tasks may involveusing a computer screen continuously for long periods. In addition, theemployee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
