Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Dean of Student Success plays a critical leadership role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging school environment that supports student growth, academic success, and social-emotional development. This position focuses on promoting a strong school culture, supporting student engagement, and addressing attendance and conduct issues, including in-school truancy, to ensure all students have the opportunity to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and sustain initiatives that promote a positive school culture aligned with the schools mission and values.
Collaborate with staff, students, families, and community partners to strengthen student engagement and sense of belonging.
Monitor and review student attendance data regularly; identify patterns of in-school truancy and collaborate with relevant staff to design interventions.
Review and manage conduct referrals related to attendance and behavioral concerns, ensuring timely and appropriate responses that support student accountability and growth.
Work closely with counselors, teachers, and administrators to develop behavior support plans and restorative practices to reduce disciplinary incidents.
Lead professional development focused on culture building, engagement strategies, and effective attendance interventions.
Serve as a key liaison between students, families, and school personnel to address attendance and conduct challenges proactively.
Maintain accurate records of attendance and conduct referrals, analyze trends, and report findings to school leadership for continuous improvement.
Support school-wide efforts to promote equity and inclusivity in all culture and engagement activities.
Support the Alternative Program within Medford High School that supports over aged and under credited students.
Qualifications:
Experience in education, student affairs, or related fields with a demonstrated commitment to positive school culture and student engagement.
Strong skills in data analysis, particularly attendance and behavioral data, to inform interventions.
Knowledge of restorative discipline practices.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
Ability to lead initiatives that foster inclusivity and equity in school settings.
Skilled in collaboration, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.
Preferred:
Experience working with middle or high school students.
Background in social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, or equity-focused education.
This role is essential for building an environment where students feel valued, motivated, and supported in their academic and personal growth. The Dean of Student Success helps ensure attendance and conduct issues are addressed constructively to promote success for every student.
Compensation:
The work year is 190 days, with a pay range of $70,000 to $85,000.
