Summary of Position:

The equipment manager is responsible for the operation and oversight of all athletic equipment and uniforms in the athletic department for the upper and middle school programs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Coordinate the purchase of all uniforms and equipment and work within the line item in the budget Reconcile purchases to ensure receipts for all items and code to the appropriate accounts Develop a plan for capital items needs for future years, such as high-cost equipment and inventory Wash and launder all uniforms and equipment as needed Coordinate with head coaches of teams to ensure they are properly equipped for the start of each season Assist in the oversight of the athletic facility and its maintenance as needed Assist members of the department in game management and supervision duties Responsible for the gameday setup of the Robert Saltonstall Gym Developed and managed a database to track athletic uniforms and equipment, ensuring accurate inventory control, streamlined distribution, and returns. Responsibilities included data entry, maintenance of item records (e.g., sizes, assignments, condition), and generating reports to support operational planning and accountability. Implemented procedures for check-in/check-out, loss prevention, and periodic audits to maintain equipment integrity and reduce replacement costs.

N/A Education/Certification/Licensure Required:

High School degree or equivalent

Preferred:

A bachelor’s degree

Experience Required:

3 years of professional experience working in an environment where organizational skills are needed

Preferred:

Experience working in an athletic department within a school

Competencies Required:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated computer expertise, including proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies. Understanding of confidentiality and related issues. Receptive to supervision and professional development. Desire to be a part of a dynamic educational community.

Physical Abilities Required:

Must be able to work at a computer for up to 8 hours each day in conjunction with OSHA requirements. Must be able to move around the Milton Academy campus without restriction. Frequently lift and carry equipment or supplies weighing 25-50 lbs. Transport carts or bins filled with uniforms and gear. Must be able to set up and manage athletic spaces and be active for extended periods.
