Position Information Title AY25-26 Graduate Assistant – Alumni and Development (Internal)
Position Description The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.

Position Description:

The Graduate Assistant is an extremely valuable member in the Office of Alumni and Development. As we move toward a future fundraising campaign and continue to broaden our alumni base in conjunction with the University’s Strategic Plan, the role of the Graduate Assistant will focus on three primary areas:

Marketing:

Develop marketing materials, assist with event registrations, execute email blasts, and assist with all aspects of social media

Development:

Assist with scholarship and fundraising promotions as well as recruitment of student applicants for scholarship

Event Management:

Assist with alumni and student engagement events that create alumni culture and build connections between alumni and our current students. A Graduate Assistant in this position would enhance their learning experience in the following ways:
Utilize best practices to connect strategic communication objectives with various social media platforms.
Utilize graphic design skills for promotional campaigns directed toward alumni and donors.
Help develop and execute a strategic social media marketing plan which would include alumni.
Understand fundraising, development and philanthropy along donor centered fundraising strategies.
Communicate strategically with nonprofit organizations on building relationships and developing various communication strategies.
Assist with event management through invitation, promotion, and execution both prior to and following alumni events.
Support Alumni events such as Homecoming, Giving Day, annual initiatives, reunions, social gatherings, and affinity collaborations.
Participate in student engagement through initiatives such as the Crimson Ambassadors, Alumni Admissions Events, and Commencement Activities.
Leadership and collaboration through direct interaction with alumni. This will include projects and communications including but not limited to the Bridgewater Alumni Association and our recognized Alumni Affinity Groups. Preferred Qualifications Interest in the Alumni and Development field
Interest in Event Planning and Management
Ability to interact well within the diverse BSU Community
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional customer service skills
Photography skills or interest
Ability to work independently and with a team. Physical Demands The workspace for this position is located within an office that has many stairs with no handicap access to the second and third floors. We do require some lifting and carrying for event-related set-ups.
