Job Description:

Supervises Resident Assistants (RA) and/or Community Desk Assistants (CDA) assigned to the residence area. Provides individual/group supervision on a regular basis and completes written evaluations each semester.
Participates in the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of RAs and/or CDAs . Attends and participates in all in-service training for staff and assists in creating and implementing these trainings.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining community relations with students living in the residence halls through individual contacts and group interactions.
Provides leadership and support for staff and student programming efforts within their assigned residence area.
Acts as a resource person and referral agent and advises students regarding personal, educational, behavioral, and residence hall concerns.
Manages the residence hall in coordination with staff members and appropriate offices to ensure proper day-to-day functioning of the building/area.
Responsible for opening the residence hall in the fall and after breaks, and for hall closings prior to breaks and the end of the academic year. Responsible for the distribution and collection of keys, management of key box and key inventory, and monitoring of room inventories. Participates in rotating on-campus duty responsibilities on weekends, weeknights, and vacation periods, and during emergencies. Uses access software to assist in OneCard management, including but not limited to Lenel, Housing.

Cloud, and Google Suite Forwards and follows-up with Maintenance Request Orders, and is responsible for being familiar with issues and concerns in their residence area. Maintains accurate records to submit various reports as specified by the department.
Coordinates the implementation of the damage-billing process for individuals and/or common area community assessment charges.
Utilizes departmental assessment data to set action plans for their residence area, and assists in departmental planning.
Be attentive to the residential needs in such areas as safety, security, and emergency situations (i.e. wellness checks, work with University Police and Health & Safety Inspections). Responsible for explaining and enforcing departmental and campus policies. Participates in efforts put forth by the department, which may include participation in Admission Office Open Houses, campus special events and/or committee work.
Addresses behavioral concerns, works with staff on student concerns, forwards Incident Reports to the appropriate offices, and acts as a hearing officer in conduct cases.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

The GA must possess a Bachelor’s degree and be enrolled as a graduate student at Fitchburg State University, must not be enrolled in more than 6 credit hours each semester without prior approval. GA must seek approval to take non-GE/daytime undergrad classes.

COMPENSATIONS & BENEFITS
Stipend:

Not to exceed $12,000.00

Waiver:

12 class credits an academic year (tuition and fees)
A partially furnished on-campus apartment (room)
A meal plan when the dining hall is open (board)
During break periods (Winter, Spring, Summer), staff continuing to live on campus are still expected to participate in the duty rotation. Typically, office hours are not held during break periods.

Shift Information:

This position averages 20 hours per week of in-office time.
Rotating on-call, on-campus schedule. May be contacted in the event of federal, state, university, or campus emergency if occurring outside of a scheduled time. Fitchburg State University strongly recommends that all employees are vaccinated against
