SALARY RANGE
$60,602 – $79,073

DESCRIPTION
Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) is seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to lead the SMCC Financial Aid Office. The Director will be responsible and accountable for the administration, policies, packaging, and disbursement of all student financial aid, including scholarships. The Director will ensure that the College has exception-free Financial Aid audits and program reviews by keeping abreast of and implementing all federal and state laws and regulations that pertain to the programs administered by SMCC’s Financial Aid Office and communicating to SMCC’s executive team changes in regulations that impact the College and students. The Director will be expected to develop a financial literacy program to educate students about student loan debt. As a member of SMCC’s management team, the Director will engage in management activities that include, but are not limited to: strategic planning; outreach; personnel, budget, and resource management; and assessment of the Office’s efficacy and efficiency in all areas.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with preference for degrees in business, finance, education or a related field
At least 5 years of experience in post-secondary financial aid at the managerial level; and
Knowledge of and proficiency with computer-based financial aid system and student information systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in business, finance, education or related field from an accredited college or university
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Understanding of current federal rules and regulations; experience with computerized information system, supervisory experience required.
Experience administering financial aid at an institution with 7,000+ students preferred.
