The University of New England College of Dental Medicine (UNE CDM) is seeking a Student and Alumni Affairs Coordinator to join our team who loves to collaborate and thrives in a team-based environment. Working closely with the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Alumni Relations, Dean’s office staff, and Academic Affairs team, this position is responsible for connecting dental students to services that support student academic success in a student-centered environment pursuant to the academic mission of the College. This position works closely with other college and university partners to engage and maintain communication and our relationship with CDM’s growing alumni community.

Respond to and assist students with personal and academic issues.
Coordinate and implement Student Success Team (SST) initiative each semester (an early, brief-intervention strategy to address academic performance issues).
Develop and implement a CDM alumni engagement plan in collaboration with Institutional Advancement/Alumni Affairs.
Engage with CDM alumni to maintain a strong relationship through coordination of alumni newsletter, communicating regularly, and facilitation of in-person events and activities.
Liaise with students, student organizations, and University partners to support community and belonging within the campus community.
Assist with support for students requiring disability accommodations.
Plan and implement CDM’s orientation program for new DMD students (August) and advanced standing track (AST) students (January).
Assist with communicating policy and procedures, including revisions to policy documents and CDM Student Handbook.
Provide coordination and supervision of student teaching assistants program.
Collaboratively plan and implement annual Dental Career and Networking Fair and assist with the distribution of electronic postings of dental job and associate opportunities.
Collaboratively plan and coordinate several annual events.
Serve on various University and College committees.
Provide support and/or assist with preparing reports, taking minutes, and tracking actions and recommendations for CDM ad hoc and standing committees.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in higher education or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Master’s degree in higher education, student development, or related field preferred.
Experience in student affairs is desirable, or experience resolving complex issues while remaining calm.
Comfortable with navigating conflict and ability to balance challenge and support in working with students.
Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel, and Google Docs and other programs.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Strong attention to detail.
Must have, or be able to demonstrate, the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
