The College is seeking a highly motivated leadership annual gift officer at an exciting and defining moment in Colby’s history. Reporting on an interim basis to the Director of Major Gifts, the leadership annual gift officer is responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of Colby College constituents (primarily alumni) capable of making gifts to the Colby Fund between 2,500 and 99,999 dollars for current use funds. The leadership annual gift officer will solicit prospective donors and will collaborate regularly with prospect managers across the division to ensure prospects are solicitedprehensively. The leadership annual gift officer carries their own portfolio of approximately 250 individual prospects within specific geographic regions and functions with an emphasis on discovery and qualification. A highly visible representative of the College, the leadership annual gift officer has a deep appreciation for the liberal arts college experience and a strong personalmitment to Colby’s core values with aprehensive understanding of best practices for annual giving engagement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of Colby donors capable of making leadership annual fund gifts toward the Dare Northward campaign of between 2,500 and 99,999 dollars.
Solicit leadership annual giving-level donors directly and by working with department colleagues and volunteers; work includes developing and managing proposals, virtual visits and travel (hitting required number of donor visits per year).
Qualify donors for potential major gift capacity and interests, noting appropriate background on prospects to funnel to major gift portfolios.
Participate in execution of events and programs in support of development activities, engage key volunteers, and effectively utilize events and other activities to move solicitations forward.
Serve as a core member of the annual giving team, including conducting peer to peer outreach outside of assigned portfolio and working collaboratively with colleagues during flagship campaigns (e.g., True Blue and calendar year end) throughout the year.
Work collaboratively with peers in other fundraising areas to maximize fundraising productivity.
Perform additional duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience
Previous fundraising experience with demonstrated success in making direct solicitations and an understanding of the moves management process, preferred
Strong written and oralmunication skills required
Organizational and time management skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently
Professional conduct and appropriate handling of confidential information is required
Availability to work hours outside the normal working day (i.e. nights and weekends)
Ability to travel frequently.
Valid driver’s license required and must meet the College’s Fleet Safety Policy requirements
Appreciation of Colby’s mission and the ability to effectivelymunicate it

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Reporting on an interim basis to the Director of Major Gifts, the leadership annual gift officer will have direct contact with various members of the Division of College Advancement, College Administration, families, and students.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

General open office and campus environment. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. Ability to move around campus and interact with faculty, staff, students, parents/alumni, and external constituencies regularly is crucial. Travel and work outside of normal business hours are required.
