Job Description

Assistant Academic Dean 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars 204 N Grand St, Mexico, MO 65265 Implement the MMA strategic plan and academic goals, through the continual development and evaluation of curriculum, pedagogy and professional development. In conjunction with senior leadership team, monitor and evaluate best educational practice as per the Program of Studies, Academic handbook and other educational materials.

Ensure that curriculum guidelines reflect both state and national standards and current pedagogical theories and practices. a Coordinate a holistic approach to curriculum objectives via Rubicon Atlas, Google Classroom and other resources. In conjunction with Department Chairs, ensure student outcomes meet or exceed state averages and grade level expectations. a. Evaluate summative and formative assessment across all subject areas, in collaboration with department chairs. a. Review department assessments and ensure proper placement of students in department courses/levels. a. In liaison with the College and Career Guidance Counselor, synthesize

MAP, SAT, ACT, ASVAB

results in order to fully deliver differentiated instruction for all cadets. a. Coordinate a Student Assistance Team (comprised of teachers, administrators, and parents) for students who are experiencing difficulty academically, socially, and/or behaviorally. a. Serve as a primary liaison between the parent and school when directed by Academic Dean a. Conduct a yearly program audit to review extent of program implementation and effectiveness. b. Serve as a role model and coach to faculty to encourage their self-evaluation, professional development, and scholarship. a. As part of the Senior Leadership Team synthesize feedback and data regarding classroom observations and assessments to recommend departmental changes to curriculum, goals, policies, and processes. a. Regularly assess the use of educational technology within the curriculum. b. Make appropriate recommendations for changes to enhance teaching and learning. c. Work with parents, faculty, and staff when academic concerns arise regarding students. a. Lead and facilitate best practice on the Curriculum, Data and Instructional committees. b. Assist in recruitment, hiring and training of new staff and faculty orientation. c. As part of the Senior Leadership Team conduct classroom observations and assessments, recommending goals and changes to be implemented where required. d. Provide leadership and execute a successful Sumer Academy. e. Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean Master’s Degree Certified/Licensed Teacher 5+ years prior experience with classroom teaching, with a strong background in curriculum and instruction Capable of teaching all levels (7-12 grade), demonstrating a mastery of current pedagogy Outstanding leadership skills and supervising Exceptionally capable in both written and oral communication Excellent organizational and presentation skills Current practical knowledge and experience with educational technology Proven success at working collaboratively in an environment with colleagues Passionate about the chosen field of study 1. Reporting to the Academic Dean the Assistant Dean is responsible for the academic instructional development of all faculty, the implementation, management of the school standards-based curriculum and the evaluation and effect of student teaching and learning.
