Description Job Summary Under the supervision of the Provost, the Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School of Business and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, fostering academic excellence, promoting scholarly and professional growth, and enhancing stakeholder partnerships. The Dean will serve as a key member of the University’s academic team and will play an important role in advancing the reputation of the University regionally, nationally, and internationally as well as contributing to the University’s broader mission and strategic plan. Duties and Responsibilities This job description does not state or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position. Duties and responsibilities listed are essential job functions and exclude functions which are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. Provide strategic direction and oversight for all academic programs, processes, and operational practices within the School of Business, Hattiesburg and Tradition campuses, including undergraduate, graduate, and professional development offerings.
Lead efforts to recruit, develop, and retain talented faculty who are dedicated to teaching excellence, research, community engagement, and service.
Foster active faculty involvement in professional development, research, publication and grant funding.
Foster a collaborative environment among faculty, staff, and students.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and success in partnership with University leadership including academic advisement.
Strengthen partnerships with business leaders, alumni, and other stakeholders to promote the School’s visibility.
Work with the University’s advancement team to identify and obtain support to bolster the School’s facilities and programs.
Ensure compliance with standards of the International Accreditation Council for Business Accreditation (IACBE). Direct filing of IACBE interim and maintenance of accreditation reports.
Manage budgets and allocate resources to support sustainable growth and program development of the School of Business.
Represent the School of Business in University-wide initiatives and decision-making processes as part of the senior academic leadership team.
Serve as lead evaluator of faculty and staff annually.
Provide effective classroom instruction as a faculty member of the School of Business.
Serve the University through activities such as serving on committees and attendance at college functions. Qualifications Required Qualifications A doctorate or equivalent terminal degree in business or related field.
A record of teaching, professional service, and scholarly achievement commensurate with the rank of associate or full professor.
Demonstrated experience in leadership position.
A demonstrated ability to engage and partner with external organizations and stakeholders.
Ability to use common office productivity software, including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Ability to use learning management systems.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations and people
Ability to respect and adhere to the strict confidentiality requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Preferred Qualifications Teaching experience in higher education.
Administrative experience at a college or university.
Experience with accreditation requirements. Physical Demands Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, and to use standard office equipment including a computer
Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Must have strength and agility to move files, paper boxes, and minor office equipment
Must be able to maintain office hours and perform duties in an on-campus setting
