- The Hall Director (HD) is a live-in position responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging residential community that promotes student success, personal development, and academic achievement.
The HD is responsible for supervising student staff, implementing community-building initiatives, and managing operational responsibilities to create a thriving and supportive living-learning environment. The HD contributes to Hinds Community College’s commitment to student success, inclusion, and institutional excellence.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE
- FUNCTION

EDUCATION AND/OR
- EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications:
+ Associate’s degree in a related field. + 1-2 years of experience in residence life, student engagement, or related higher education fields
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related discipline. + Experience supervising and developing student staff. + Familiarity with crisis response, facilities management, and residential programming models
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision:
- Recruit, train, and supervise Resident Assistants and Desk Assistants; facilitate staff meetings and evaluations; lead student leadership initiatives like RHA. +

Community Engagement:
- Foster a welcoming environment, plan educational programs, maintain visibility in the hall, and collaborate with campus partners. +

Crisis Response:
- Serve in on-call rotation; respond to student emergencies and incidents; maintain accurate documentation; support student wellbeing. +

Administrative Management:
- Oversee Hall operations including occupancy, safety, policy enforcement, desk management, and summer programs. +

Communication & Inclusion:
- Maintain professional communication with students, families, and staff; support diversity and inclusion through programs and daily interactions. + Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices. + Other duties may be assigned.

- Supervise and mentor Resident Assistants (RAs) and Desk Assistants to ensure operational excellence and leadership development
