Job Summary:

The Registration Manager reports directly to the Registration Director. The Registration Manager manages the day-to-day operations for Registration. The Registration Manager establishes and coordinates all aspects of the Registration process to facilitate an efficient and customer-friendly atmosphere, in line with the mission and core values of Forrest Health. The Registration Manager is responsible for inpatient, outpatient and emergency department registrations; time of service collections; screening for financial assistance; scheduling of patient procedures; and referral, insurance verification, and pre-certification processes. Assures the development of a high-performance work team through coaching, mentoring and daily briefings. Responsible for analysis of performance metrics to improve process performance. Maintains all levels of the registration process in conjunction with DNV standards and HIPAA regulations. Develops, supports and maintains working relations with Forrest Health facilities, physicians and office staff, as well as other customers within and outside the facility. Implements registration policies and practices and coordinates with medical, nursing, and account staff. Employs organizational strategies in a balanced approach that produces meaningful contributions to each element of the Formula for Success. Requires the promotion of and adherence to the organization’s established Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with co-workers, patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Expectations:

Performance expectations will be covered in the orientation and preceptor phases of your orientation to your job. Demonstrates prompt and consistent communication with patients to accurately gather information, while maintaining quality patient care and upholding the We Care Philosophy. Demonstrates a working knowledge of office equipment to include computers, telephones, fax machines, copy machines, label printers, scanners and credit card machines. Demonstrates the ability to work well with others, as well as alone. Must be able to identify and resolve problems internally as they arise and escalate as needed. Support the values and mission of the Forrest Health System by reinforcing positive verbal communication with all staff. Demonstrates the ability to work within both clinical and office environments. Must be available for a very demanding schedule: nights, weekends, disasters, mass causalities, holidays, being on call and occasional travel. Demonstrates an extensive working knowledge of the registration process, insurance, and financial counseling. Demonstrates exceptional leadership skills to coordinate all registration activities, while promoting team-building among staff.

Qualifications:
Education/Skills:

High school graduation or equivalent required. A college degree in business is preferred. Must be able to type 30 wpm. Must be computer-literate.

Work Experience:

Two years in a registration leadership role are required to gain a full understanding of pre-admission, admission, verification, pre-certification, time of service calculation, and financial screening in order to effectively manage departmental functions and activities.

Mental Demands:

Verbal ability is required to explain hospital registration policies and procedures to employees, patients, and others involved in registration; communication skills are required to effectively interact with patients, family members, physicians, and other hospital employees; numerical ability is required to explain billing insurance, and other financial matters which relate to patient accounts; must have ability to direct hospital assigned employees including scheduling and reviewing the work of subordinates; must be able to plan, organize, direct, control and staff various functions related to outpatient, inpatient, and emergency registration; must be able to make clear, quick decisions and judgments related to hospital policies and procedures.
