Location/Schedule:

Crossnore, NC, weekdays with some weekend and after hours on call support. Availability to travel throughout the region to support teams both on and off campuses, serves as back-up to on-call/crisis needs, ability to travel locally and regionally for stakeholder meetings. Must live on or near the assigned campus (within a 30-minute radius).

From maintaining trauma-informed routines to coaching supervisors, you ensure each child experiences safety, structure, and genuine belonging. Your leadership keeps cottages staffed, budgets balanced, teams inspired, and outcomes measured—so kids leave our care stronger than when they arrived. Simply put, the Director of Residential Services turns our Sanctuary values into everyday reality for North Carolina’s most vulnerable youth.

Hiring Range :

$75,000 to $85,000 annually•Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Candidates who meet only the minimum requirements can expect to start at the beginning of the range, while those with additional and relevant experience and/or advanced skills may be considered for higher starting pay within the range.

Paid Holidays Education/Experience/Licensure:

Qualified Mental Health Professional credential required, which consists of: Master’s degree in a human services or related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year supervised clinical experience working with children and families; or Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and two years’ experience with the current population; or Bachelor’s degree in a non-human services field and four years’ experience with the current population Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience required. Experience supervising staff in child welfare strongly preferred. Minimum of 5 years experience working within a residential services (mental health and or child welfare) program required. Experience with Medicaid-funded and DSS-funded service lines. Experience with compliance (standards of accreditation and licensing agencies, Clinical Coverage Policy, etc.). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Key Responsibilities:

Cultivate a therapeutic, equitable campus culture aligned with Sanctuary Standards. Direct and coach supervisors overseeing cottages, case management, recreation and admin teams. Own program strategy & budgets—set KPIs, track outcomes, adjust tactics. Maintain audit-ready compliance (clinical records, safety drills, facility standards). Partner with referrals/admissions to ensure timely placements and discharge planning. Lead hiring, onboarding & development for Residential staff, reinforcing trauma-informed care. Serve as 24/7 backup for on-call rotation; respond to emergencies within 30 minutes. Collaborate cross-departmentally (clinical, operations, finance, external relations). Champion youth voice via the client mission team and integrate feedback into QI processes. Drive accreditation & licensing reviews in partnership with Program Excellence.
