Job Description

Athletics Supervisor Town Of Hope Mills 5770 Rockfish Road, Hope Mills, NC 28348 Athletics Supervisor SUMMARY Under the general direction of the Deputy Director of Athletics and Building Maintenance, plans, coordinate, supervise and implement major phases of athletic programming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

___________________________________________________________ Qualified candidates should possess the ability to perform the following essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation: Plans, organizes, coordinates, supervises, and implements a major segment of the overall athletic programming with comprehensive responsibility. Supervises and directs the work of the athletic coordinator and part time athletic staff. Hire, train, and schedule seasonal field and gym staff as well as attract and retain volunteer coaches. Coordinate field and facility scheduling and assist with event preparation. Maintains athletics records and prepares various reports. Inventories and maintains athletic equipment and determines proper check-out and return. Educates and informs general public about athletic programs. Ensure compliance with sanction rules and league policies. Assists in budget preparation for athletics and facilities. Provide support for special events. Conduct league drafts and prepare practice schedules. Performs other related tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

________________________________________________________________ Minimum Education and/or

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Parks Administration (or closely related field) OR 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree; AND 5 or more years of progressive full-time experience in municipal recreation management with at least two years being supervisory in nature.

Other Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:

Ability to analyze/sort data to determine number of teams per league based on total number of participants. Knowledge of and ability to create draft list based on number of returning players to each roster, add expansion rosters if required. Ability to prepare practice schedules with available locations and times Knowledge of current local league rules and ability to communicate those to coaches. Must possess and maintain a valid, current North Carolina driver’s license.

Overtime Compensation Agreement:

Consistent with the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, it is the town’s policy to compensate non-exempt employees for overtime work with compensatory time off or overtime pay. As part of the acceptance of any offer of employment with the Town, employees in non-exempt positions agree to accept, at the discretion of the town, either compensatory time off or overtime pay, as appropriate compensation for overtime work that may be required to perform as an employee of the Town of Hope Mills.
