Job Description Summary The Senior Academic Coordinator provides strategic leadership and support to Academic Coordinators across Wake Forest College (WF College) academic departments and programs. This role serves as a key liaison between academic departments and central academic support services, ensuring efficient and effective academic operations. This includes developing and implementing best practices, streamlining processes, and fostering communication and collaboration among departments. The Senior Academic Coordinator will also be responsible for training and mentoring WF College Academic Coordinators, providing guidance on university policies and procedures, and advocating for their needs.
Job Description Essential Functions:
Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to Academic Coordinators across all departments. Develop and implement best practices and standardized procedures for academic operations. Conduct regular meetings and workshops to share information, address challenges, and foster collaboration among Academic Coordinators. Analyze current academic processes and identify areas for improvement in efficiency, effectiveness, and student experience. Serve as a resource for Chairs and Academic Coordinators on university policies and procedures. Cultivate collaborative partnerships with Academic Coordinators, providing timely updates and proactively identify and resolve challenges. Coordinate interim academic support during periods of transition, collaborating with Chairs and Academic Coordinators. Organizes and oversees key College events, such as faculty development workshops, and special events. Ensures that events adhere to budget and spend policies while delivering on the intended educational objectives. Serves on the search committee for Academic Coordinator positions by actively participating in candidate screening, interviews, and selection, while advising committee members on key attributes of a strong candidate.
Other Functions:
Assist with EMS/DeaconSpace classroom space management. Assist in planning and promoting departmental meetings and events.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of three to five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience in administrative support functions. Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Proficiency in using data analysis and reporting tools. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Experience with Workday Platform. Experience working within a complex, multi-department environment. Experience with EMS Scheduling Software.
Accountabilities:
Works under limited supervision. Maintain strong communication channels with Academic Coordinators, providing timely updates and addressing concerns. Ensure consistent and equitable application of university policies across all departments.
