JOB SUMMARY
The director of student success and engagement reports to the associate dean of student affairs and enrollment management and is responsible for leading the student success coordinators and overseeing services such as tutoring, fostering student engagement, promotion of timely graduation, advising and registration, onboarding, and student organizations. Additionally, as a member of the student affairs department, assists with various activities related to student enrollment management and success; must have the flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Engages in active college committee work to include advising student clubs or organizations (waived for PRN teammates and those with fewer than 30 assigned hours per week).
Fosters beneficial relationships and supports the greater community through service activities. Manages student support services. Leads student success and engagement team.
Plan and oversee all student support activities with the student success coordinators.
Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual needs assessment survey to determine and address the support needs of the current student populations.
Based on the needs assessment survey, works with student success coordinators to develop an offering of academic support workshops (i.e., study skills, time management, etc.).
Develop a master schedule each semester of all student support programs, workshops, and services.
Manage teams schedule to ensure sufficient on-site presence of student support during all college operating hours.
Create and lead strategies for early interventions.
Lead an early identification process for early interventions and skills development for students with the student success coordinators.
Manage the tutoring activities. Lead activities to foster engagement. Lead student engagement initiatives to promote early and frequent engagement of students.
Continually evaluate new student attrition, “melt”, and work to reduce melt.
Oversee student organizations and work with the team to assign student organization sponsors.
Plan and oversee activities on campus each semester to engage students.
Collaborate with the dean of student affairs and enrollment management with planning of graduation and other celebrations for students. Direct and maintain processes to promote advising, enrollment, and timely graduation. Lead the student success coordinators in student advising.
Collaborate with the dean of student affairs and enrollment management on tracking student enrollment and retention.
Develop and maintain an advising process which measures student enrollment and follows up on students that are not registered.
Oversee student success coordinators professional development activities for continued improvement in advising.
Collaborate with other directors in the division to monitor pre-track student programs and placement into track programs with guaranteed admission placement.
Serve as a contributor to college reporting on graduation and placement rates. Maintains professional competence, including system- and college-assigned requirements. Possesses and continually develops position-specific knowledge and requirements.
Works with manger to identify and schedule needed orientation and/or training related to the position.
On an ongoing basis, participates in appropriate continuing education, training offerings or other scholarly activities (e.g., certification training, formal education, membership in professional organizations, conference attendance, presentation or publications).
Annually evaluates own job performance and goal attainment.
Effectively and appropriately uses computer technology appropriate to position.
Completes relevant training, as required (e.g., annual continuing education (ACE) modules, Title IX and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) training, Mental health first aid training).
Complies with Atrium Health’s clinical requirements (e.g., tuberculosis screening tests, annual influenza vaccination), as required.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other duties as assigned.
Based on background and relevant degrees, may teach some general education classes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Office, some travel.
Majority of time distributed between: walking (15%); standing and bending for filing (20%); and sitting including: driving, telephone, and personal counseling, typing (65%).
