Summary
The Sandhills Community College Flyers Athletics Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the college’s athletic programs in compliance with NJCAA regulations. This role involves leadership, administration, and promotion of intercollegiate sports, ensuring student-athletes’ academic and athletic success while fostering a positive and inclusive environment. Flyers Athletics currently competes in four sports: Men’s Basketball, Men’s Golf, Women’s Court Volleyball, and Women’s Beach Volleyball. Essential Functions
Ensures that the College, coaches, and athletes meet or exceed the requirements of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Provide leadership and direction for all athletic programs, including recruitment, scheduling, and compliance with NJCAA rules.
Supervise and evaluate coaching staff, ensuring alignment with college values and goals.
Develop and manage the athletic department budget, including fundraising and sponsorship efforts.
Promote student-athlete academic success by collaborating with academic advisors and faculty.
Ensure compliance with college, state, and NJCAA policies, including eligibility and discipline requirements.
Represent the college at NJCAA meetings and conferences.
Coordinate athletic events, facilities, and equipment maintenance.
Foster community engagement and partnerships to support athletic programs.
Actively promotes all Flyers athletic programs, insures timely sports information is provided to NJCAA and SCC Marketing representative.
Ensure Title IX compliance for all athletics sports programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field (or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in athletic administration or coaching, preferably at the NJCAA or NCAA level.
Strong understanding of NJCAA rules and regulations.
Ability to interpret, comprehend, and apply complex federal, state, association, and college laws, rules, and requirements.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred:

experience in fundraising and community outreach.

Preferred:

familiarity with student-athlete academic support programs.
