This position requires a dynamic educational leader who can effectively manage faculty while providing compassionate guidance to students across middle and high school years, ensuring a cohesive educational experience throughout this critical developmental period. Primary Responsibilities Faculty Leadership & Management Recruit, hire, develop, and evaluate upper school faculty across grades 6-12 Foster a collaborative and engaging teaching environment Facilitate regular faculty meetings and professional development opportunities Observe classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback Support teachers in implementing curriculum and addressing classroom challenges Student Support & Guidance Establish a God honoring culture that promotes student well-being Provide direct counseling and guidance to students facing academic or personal challenges Oversee the student discipline process with an emphasis on growth and development Foster student leadership opportunities and extracurricular engagement Facilitate successful transitions between middle school (6-8) and high school (9-12) Program Development Instruct and enforce educational best practices aligned with the school’s mission Oversee academic policies, grading standards, and assessment procedures Coordinate with department chairs on curriculum planning and implementation Community Engagement Serve as the primary liaison between the upper school and parents Communicate regularly with families about school programs and student progress Represent the upper school at community events and functions Collaborate with lower school leadership to ensure programmatic continuity Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education, educational leadership, or related field required 7+ years of teaching experience at the middle and/or secondary level 3+ years of administrative experience in an educational setting Understanding of adolescent development and middle/high school curriculum Experience working with diverse age groups from early adolescence through young adulthood Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills Personal Qualities Approachable, empathetic leader who builds trust with students and faculty Strong decision-maker who can balance competing priorities Problem-solver who maintains composure during challenges Adaptable educator who understands the developmental differences across grades 6-12 Reports to Head of School Application Process Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, statement of educational philosophy, and three professional references.
