Job Description

High School Dean of Students Eno River Academy (formerly Orange Charter School) 1100 NC Highway 57, Hillsborough, NC 27278

Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:

Oversee the inventory of school supplies, textbooks, and other educational materials. Develop and implement efficient inventory tracking systems to ensure accuracy and availability of resources. Coordinate with teachers and staff to assess and fulfill their supply needs.

Emergency Procedures:

Develop, review, and update emergency procedures, including evacuation plans, lockdown protocols, and crisis response strategies. Conduct regular drills to ensure students and staff are prepared for emergencies. Collaborate with local authorities and emergency personnel to enhance school safety measures.

Professional Development:

Coordinate and facilitate professional development programs for faculty and staff. Identify training needs and organize workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance staff skills and knowledge. Stay updated with the latest educational trends and research to provide relevant professional development opportunities.

Facilities Management:

Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the school facilities, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment. Collaborate with the facilities team to address repairs, renovations, and equipment needs. Conduct regular inspections to identify potential safety hazards and resolve them promptly.

Calendars:

Manage the school calendar, including scheduling of events, examinations, and extracurricular activities. Coordinate with teachers, students, and parents to ensure effective communication of important dates and deadlines. Plan and organize special events, such as parent-teacher conferences and graduation ceremonies.

Online Classes:

Support the implementation and management of online classes and virtual learning platforms. Collaborate with teachers to ensure the effective delivery of online curriculum and student engagement. Provide technical support and training to students and staff for online learning tools and platforms. CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation): Facilitate CPR training programs for staff and students, ensuring they are prepared to respond to medical emergencies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CPR guidelines and certifications, and provide retraining as required. Coordinate with health services and local authorities to ensure proper emergency medical procedures are in place.

Technology:

Coordinate the distribution and maintenance of Chromebooks and other technology devices to students. Develop policies and procedures for the appropriate use and care of technology equipment. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to students and staff as needed.

Student and Teacher Support:

Provide guidance and support to students on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional matters. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and parents to address individual student needs and develop appropriate intervention strategies. Implement programs and initiatives to promote a positive school culture, student engagement, and academic success. Support teachers in implementing effective classroom management strategies and instructional techniques. Conduct regular check-ins with teachers to assess their professional needs and provide support and resources accordingly.

After School Activities:

Attend and actively participate in selected after-school activities, such as club meetings, sports events, performances, and other extracurricular programs. Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of students during these activities. Collaborate with teachers, coaches, and activity advisors to support the successful execution of after-school programs. Promote student involvement and engagement in extracurricular activities to foster a well-rounded educational experience.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Experience working in a school setting or similar educational environment. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Knowledge of emergency procedures and crisis management. Familiarity with educational technology and online learning platforms. Certification in CPR and First Aid. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
