Job Description

Job Duties:

The Associate Dean of Admissions reports to the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and oversees and administers all admissions programs for the Brody School of Medicine. This will be an At Will, 12 month position. Duties of the position include the following: Leadership, Admissions (80%)

  • Ensures that all admissions operations are in full alignment with, and support the achievement of, the BSOM vision and mission.
  • Oversees the administrative, financial, personnel and logistical support related to the admissions process at the Brody School of Medicine
  • Monitor the outreach budget and plan any necessary recruitment events including BSOM First Look and Second Look.
  • Studies national trends in applications, keeps statistical information concerning applicants and matriculants, and similar types of research
  • Oversees the analysis of the qualifications of prospective students utilizing established admissions standards, guidelines, and criteria
  • Develops and implements admissions policies and procedures
  • Oversees strategic planning for the Office of Admissions as it relates to: correspondence with applicants, coordination of interviews, and managing the overall admissions process
  • Actively participates in the interview process including: introduction of BSOM academic programs on every interview day; interviewing applicants as needed; and being immediately available for support and leadership
  • Provides oversight to the Admissions Selection Committee
  • Outlines processes for screening, interviewing, and selection of BSOM candidates and oversees the training of all individuals involved in these stages of the admissions process
  • Collaborates with the SADAA to select faculty to participate in all stages of the admissions process
  • Tracks faculty participation in the admissions process as requested by the SADAA and reports this activity to the SADAA regularly in order to assess compliance with participation standards
  • Provides advice and counsel to unsuccessful applicants to medical school
  • Coordinates the use of the national medical school application in conjunction with the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS)
