Organizational Unit Overview Academic Affairs (“AA”) is headed by the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs who serves as the institution’s Chief Academic Officer (“CAO”) and is responsible for administering academic policies. AA is comprised of each of the university’s colleges, schools, and libraries, along with other academic support and administrative units, to include Learner Operations, Research, Innovation and Engagement, Institutional Planning, Assessment and Research, and Global Affairs. Academic Affairs works collaboratively to strengthen ECU’s culture of academic excellence in line with our mission to be a national model for student success, public service, and regional transformation. The Undergraduate Admissions Office is the primary point of contact for a traditional first year student, transfer, or non-traditional adult student seeking admission to East Carolina University. The office is responsible for identifying and recruiting potential applicants with outstanding academic ability and potential and assisting in the application process to completion. Job Duties The Associate Director for Campus Experiences will develop and implement a comprehensive campus visit program focused on prospective students, overseeing all aspects of the campus visit experience for prospective students and their families, including daily tours, information sessions, major events, and specialized academic unit visitation programs. The position reports directly to the Senior Associate Director. Some evenings and weekends should be expected. 50% Campus Visit Planning & Management Leadership Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, developing a vision and innovative strategies for the campus visit experience.
Set the standard for exceptional customer service.
Utilize data to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Work to promote good relationships with the University, with all University partners, and University constituents. Connect with campus partners to coordinate a variety of activities including but not limited to colleges and academic departments for special tour visits, ECU Parking and ECU Transit for regular campus tours.
Assist the Senior Associate Director in maintaining a positive, efficient, and productive work environment in the Office of Admissions.
Provide professional development to direct reports including the Campus Visit Coordinator and Customer Service staff. 40% Campus Experiences Planning and Management Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of major events including but not limited to Open House, Pirates in Your Town, Admitted Students Days, and Pirates Aboard.
Oversee budget management and resource allocation for events.
Manage the registration process for all on-campus visits
Provide clear pre- and post-visit communications with visitors.
Collaborate with other offices to improve understanding of experiences that influence prospective students and their families.
Collect, analyze and disseminate campus visitor feedback.
Create processes to enhance the campus visit experience.
Contribute expertise in campus visits to the development, maintenance and execution of the office’s communication plan for prospective and admitted students, online resources for internal and external constituents.
Track and analyze visit data and identify areas for improvement. 10% Recruitment Team Support Serve on a variety of university committees, representing the Office of Undergraduate Admissions where appropriate, as well as other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Participate in regular professional development and training initiatives related to the CRM (TargetX) and Student Information System (Banner) through which information is stored and managed. This position is contingent upon available funding. Minimum Education/Experience Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Three years of progressively responsible post-secondary experience in student recruitment or demonstrated long term management of complex projects, particularly as it relates to large scale events and event planning.
Experience in working with a wide range of constituencies and prior experience supervising professional or student staff.
