Student Leadership and Engagement, serving the entire student body, provides leadership and vision for coordinating various forms of student involvement and engagement within DASA at NC State University. The department encompasses co-curricular leadership programs and initiatives; student organization management, education, and development; student governance; large scale campus programming; global engagement via Alternative Service Break, service, and civic engagement coordination; campus-community partnerships; academic courses; and a robust student intern program. Essential Job Duties Reporting directly to the Associate Director for Student Leadership & Engagement, the Assistant Director for Student Organization Education and Management will be responsible for the following: Student Organization Management, Education, and Development
Implement and manage the bi-annual student organization registration process in accordance with university policies.
Ensure student organization advisors and officers complete required training and comply with university policies.
Advise the Student Organization Council and provide leadership, direction, and support.
Serve as the primary liaison to 700+ registered student organizations.
Maintain accurate demographic, statistical, and academic performance data for student organizations.
Conduct assessments on student organization needs and student development, preparing annual reports.
Maintain digital resources and registration processes in compliance with recognition protocols.
Manage and promote Get Involved (Campus Labs/Anthology) and other digital platforms.
Establish priorities and implement best practices in student organization management and education.
Establish a year-round schedule of training, events, and resources for student organizations. Education & Training
Develop, coordinate, and execute required training for student organizations through various formats (in-person, hybrid, asynchronous).
Guide student leaders on policies, procedures, and organizational development.
Prepare student organization leaders for leadership transitions and retreat programming.
Implement educational and skills-based programming for student organization leaders and advisors. Programs, Awards, & Recognition
Manage a budget for student organization programs and events.
Develop strategic partnerships with Student Centers staff to enhance the student organization experience.
Coordinate engagement fairs, vendor showcases, and student leader recognition programs.
Develop recognition programs for student organization advisors. Partnerships & Outreach
Collaborate with the Student Leadership and Engagement team to support departmental and divisional programming.
Manage social media strategies for student organization programs in collaboration with marketing interns.
Partner with Risk Management and other campus offices to assess and mitigate risks for student organization events.
Serve on committees and work teams to advance the mission of Student Leadership & Engagement.
Develop initiatives to foster engagement, collaboration, and partnerships among student organizations, university departments, and community organizations. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Education, Leadership, Organizational Development, Higher Education, Business Administration, or related field
2 Years of Experience in Higher Education or related fields
Experience supporting student organizations or leadership development in higher education Other Required Qualifications Knowledge of student organization management, processes, and best practices in higher education Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience in student organization management, including registration processes, training, and leadership development
Effective leadership and advising skills, with the ability to coach, mentor, and train student leaders and advisors
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with experience facilitating workshops, training, and presentations
Experience managing budgets and planning large-scale student events, including engagement fairs, recognition programs, and training sessions
Familiarity with risk management principles for student organizations, including event planning compliance
Demonstrated effort to promote socially responsible leadership among staff and students throughout the university Required License(s) or Certification(s) N/A Valid NC Driver’s License required No
