Position Description Pay Grade:

Manager 7 This position is responsible for assisting the dean with oversight, leadership, and management of the Engineering, Technologies and Skilled Trades division. In the absence of the dean, the associate dean assumes the dean’s responsibilities and duties. The role requires leadership in student support, faculty guidance, staff oversight, administrative processes, division partnerships, and grants to ensure successful division operations. Responsibilities and Duties (•Essential Functions) To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Assists with daily operations, including data management, quality control and oversight of the division Provides leadership, supervision, and direction for division faculty and staff Contributes to the recruitment, hiring, mentorship, training, and evaluation of faculty and staff Assists with professional development and supervisory support for division personnel Assists with the outreach, recruitment, and growth of all programs within the division Assists with support, advising, and guidance of students Assists dean with division policies, assessment reports and institutional effectiveness plans Assists with scheduling issues, enrollment management, and student retention strategies Assists deans and directors in developing programs, strategies, goals, and budgets Monitors division resources, ensuring effective budget allocation and expenditure tracking Serves on college committees and participates in institutional projects as needed Assists dean and department heads in the College’s Business Continuity Plan Mediates and resolves personnel issues, including mediation and conflict resolution Addresses student issues with course retakes, grade appeals, academic violations, and general support Supports graduation audits, course substitutions, transfer evaluations, and student advising Assists dean and department heads with new and existing articulation agreements and program reviews Works with department heads and IE to gather and report relevant data from departments and division Assists dean and department heads with assessment submissions and accreditation processes Develops and fosters relationships with internal and external partners to support division initiatives Works with other college areas to address college and division needs Assists with approval of contracts, travel authorizations, and purchase requests Supports student activities, clubs, and engagement initiatives Maintains and promotes a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment Supports grants, apprenticeships, work-based learning, and workforce development initiatives

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Innovative, creative, self-motivated, and adaptable to changing priorities Excellent oral, written and listening communication skills Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision Working knowledge of external accreditation requirements Strong leadership, analytical, and critical thinking skills Exhibit good interpersonal skills, working well with others and on teams Ability to maintain records accurately and meet deadlines consistently Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines Should be able to work both independently and as a team member Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including student and employee populations Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, team building, and decision-making skills Proficient with MS Office products including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Teams with ability to learn new technologies Familiarity with NC Community College System policies and procedures

Requirements:

Master’s degree in addition to bachelor’s degree in engineering, technologies, or skilled trades Two years of teaching experience in a post-secondary institution in engineering, technologies, or skilled trades Two years of supervision, leadership, or management experience
