The General Studies Principal plays a pivotal role in sustaining and advancing the school’s tradition of academic excellence while fostering a warm, inclusive community and a lifelong love of learning among students. This leadership position requires a detail-oriented, visionary educator who can oversee all aspects of the General Studies program and communicate a clear, inspiring vision to the faculty. Combining expertise in administration and teaching, the General Studies Principal will lead, mentor, and evaluate the General Studies faculty. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing a rigorous curriculum aligned with the school’s mission, maintaining behavior expectations in partnership with the Judaic Studies Principal, and ensuring that all students receive appropriate support and challenges to reach their fullest potential.

Key Responsibilities:
Faculty Leadership:

Recruit, mentor, and develop General Studies faculty through training, professional development, and regular one-on-one support. Conduct new teacher orientation, staff meetings, and faculty evaluations.

Student Management:

Driving initiatives in behavior management to ensure effective and positive learning environments

Operational Support:

Oversee classroom assignments, supply acquisition, and scheduling to ensure smooth classroom operations. Collaborate school leadership on school budgeting needs and ensure that classroom projects, curriculum development, field trips and other initiatives remain within the approved budget throughout the year.

Curriculum Development:

Develop, revise, and implement a curriculum that nurtures curiosity and inspires student engagement. Introduce and support electives that encourage exploration and discovery.

Educational Technology:

Champion the integration of STEAM initiatives and educational technology to enhance both teaching and learning experiences.

Data-Driven Instruction:

Lead the faculty in using data to inform instruction and improve learning outcomes.

Parent and Community Engagement:

Build collaborative relationships with parents to address individual student needs and broader program initiatives. Attend community and school-sponsored events to foster relationships and support the school’s mission Represent the General Studies program to stakeholders, visitors, and potential donors.

Leadership Collaboration:

Work closely with the Judaic Studies Principal and Leadership Team to address operational and programmatic goals. Promote a culture of collaboration and mutual respect by actively contributing to shared responsibilities, including assisting with school events and maintaining an organized environment while working harmoniously with colleagues to support a positive school community.

Student-Centered Environment:

Promote a culture where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, while exploring meaningful pathways to success.

Qualifications:

An advanced degree in education or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience. Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teachers. Expertise in curriculum development and contemporary teaching methodologies. Strong organizational skills with demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Cultural competency and sensitivity to the school’s diverse student population. Proficiency in technology and a willingness to learn new software systems.
