About Us:

The Arc of Essex County is a non-profit organization that provides services and programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Our corporate office is located in Livingston, NJ and we have programs throughout Essex County. This position is in person at our corporate office in Livingston, NJ.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Director of Independent Living Services to plan, direct, and oversee all department functions to ensure the implementation of Independent Living Services operations and activities meets all regulatory and participant ISP requirements and are delivered as per agency and quality standards. This position reports to the Senior Director of Residential Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Ensure services and activities meet participant needs and regulatory standards. Manage participant enrollment, including screening, admission, suspension, and termination. Ensure staffing structures meets the needs of all participant activities and support needs. Ensure homes/apartments are individualized as per participant needs and interests and are well maintained. Collaborate with departments (Facility, Transportation, IT, HR) to address related needs. Maintain professional contact with participants’ parents, guardians, and support coordinators. Provide direction and support to the Independent Living management team. Communicate and implement agency procedures and protocols. Ensure effective employee training and performance improvement. Make recommendations to HR for hiring, promotions, transfers, and terminations. Review and ensure service activities align with billable units. Submit accurate Medicaid billable data. Participate in internal and external inspections and manage corrective actions. Oversee financial transactions and ensure compliance with agency standards. Compile and submit required data accurately and timely. Communicate concerns and issues clearly to supervisors and related staff. Provide on-call support for crisis and emergency situations, including off-hours travel if necessary. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills:

Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Special Education or a related discipline with five years (5) of administrative experience in division-specific services to adults with developmental disabilities or Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related discipline and seven (7) years of such experience. Valid Driver’s License with a clean record required. EHR experience and computer skills required. Knowledge of NJ state regulations required.

Full-time Pay:

$68,000.00 – $77,000.00 per year
