Job Description:
To support the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics with the day-to-day management and administration with apparel and equipment to facilitate an effective, safe and sanitary Division I athletic equipment department. This position will work primarily with the football program, while also handling equipment services for three other Olympic sports.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with coaches to plan and prepare apparel ordering, embroidery, and distribution to all football student-athletes and coaches. This includes helmet certification, shoulder pad purchasing, and equipment reconditioning. Updating inventory spreadsheets, communicating orders to the Athletics Business Office, and meeting frequently with coaches.
Perform administrative responsibilities that include but are not limited to: purchasing on-field equipment used for practice/competition and reconcile purchasing card. Oversee all equipment-related needs for multiple sports, including Fall and Spring sports. This will require consistent oversight of all equipment-related needs for in-season and out-of-season sports. Manage all the laundry needs for sports associated with the position.
Handle on-field setup for football practice, such as bringing on-field equipment from the locker room to the field and ensuring footballs are in practice/game condition. Other reasonable duties as assigned, including some travel to away competitions.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships:
Reports to: Director of Equipment
Supervises the following positions: Student assistants, part-time staff, volunteers
Job Requirements:
Knowledge of all student-athlete safety and welfare items, especially concussion management.
Knowledge of NCAA and conference branding/logo policies and procedures. Ability to work varying schedules (evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.).
Ability to travel.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or associate degree with 3 years of relevant experience from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
A minimum of 1 year as an athletic equipment manager with collegiate experience or related professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
Experience as an equipment manager at a Division I institution
Experience working with a football program
AEMA Certification
Working Environment:
This job is physical in nature. The physical demands include moderate lifting, ability to lift and move boxes/containers filled with apparel, ability to work from multiple locations within the department depending on the activity.
Due to the travel requirements, equipment managers are sometimes required to perform their responsibilities at locales away from home (opposing teams’ venue, hotel, bus, etc.).
Night and weekend work will be frequent.
