Join Us as a 12-Month Residence Director at Alfred State – Where You Make a Difference Every Day Are you passionate about student development, leadership, and creating vibrant communities? Alfred State is seeking dynamic, student-focused professionals to join our Residential Life team as 12-Month Residence Director for the 2025-2026 academic year. Your Role As a Residence Director, you’ll live on campus and play a vital role in shaping the student experience. You’ll be the go-to person in your residence hall – a leader, a mentor, and a community builder. You’ll have the opportunity to get to know your residents on a personal level and support them socially, academically, and professionally, while also being a key player in maintaining a safe and respectful community.

What You’ll Be Doing Lead Your Team:

Recruit, train, and supervise a student staff dedicated to building strong, supportive residence hall communities.

Build Community:

Implement and champion our residential curriculum, helping students engage in meaningful learning outside the classroom. Be a

Connector:

Act as a liaison between students, faculty, and administrators. You’ll help translate college policies into everyday practice and ensure community standards are upheld.

Stay Involved:

Manage residence hall operations – from opening and closing buildings to coordinating events and programs that make campus life vibrant.

Support and Refer:

Be present and accessible, building relationships and serving as a trusted resource for your residents every day.

Get Involved Campus-Wide:

You’ll take part in committee leadership roles like training, staff selection, and more. You’ll also help with break housing, student orientation, and campus programming. Expand Your Skills with Program Coordinator Roles In addition to your Residence Director duties, you may take on a Program Coordinator role within the Division of Student Affairs. This gives you hands-on experience in areas like: Student Conduct Student Engagement Civic Engagement College Housing You’ll develop new skills in event planning, assessment, program administration, and leadership that prepare you for your next step in Student Affairs. Job Requirements:

You have at least a bachelor’s degree. You’re collaborative, but confident making decisions independently. You’re committed to student success and eager to support their growth. You’re ready to work evenings and weekends as part of a 12-month, live-in commitment.

Hold a master’s degree Have experience in Residential Life or related areas

The starting salary for this position is $51,261 Employees are also offered
