Overseeing the day-to-day activities of the group home, ensuring the group home is managed and performing efficiently and effectively. In addition, the Residence Manager MUST ensure that the group home is in compliance with all federal, state, and local government agencies to include OPWDD.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Precision Care and Paycom is required Bachelor’s degree in human service field and/or High School Diploma/GED and 3years experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Duties/ Responsibilities :
- Responsible for immediate overall management and oversight of residence.
- Overall supervision of individuals receiving residential services and at home residential habilitation services.
- Implements residential habilitation plans.
- Reviews data collection, billing and monthly notes for accuracy against time clock summary.
- Reviews and update as needed and annually all resident plans of protective oversight (POP)
- Reviews and update as needed and annually all site-specific plans of protective oversight.
- Reviews all chore/ household checklists and assignments completed by direct care workers.
- Twenty-four-hour responsibility for proper functioning of residential program, ensure a safe and sanitary physical environment, including the exterior of the homes.
- On site/off site involvement with each individual’s service providers.
- Responsible for coordinating clinical appointments.
- Schedules, supervises, and evaluates the activities of IRA direct service professional staff/support staff.
- Responsible for maintaining adequate staffing coverage.
- Responsible for covering vacant shifts as needed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents are being met.
- Conduct monthly direct service professional Staff meetings.
- Conducts monthly residents meeting.
- Conduct in-service training as required. (Monthly, semi -annually and annually)
- Oversees purchases, use, storage, and maintenance of household supplies.
- Responsible for ensuring that residence has adequate and proper food and household supplies.
- Maintain personnel in-house consumer ledgers and assist residents with personal, financial management and planning.
- Maintain individual consumer records as required.
- Conduct routine fire drills, review documentation, inspect fire safety equipment and ensure fire evacuation plans are followed.
- Ensure all new staff has gone through a fire drill on their first day in residence.
- Ensure all new staff has been given an overview of residents, house and books.
- Responsible along with nurse for the oversight of all health, medical, medication administration any and any all-medication changes are properly documented and communicated accurately to all staff.
- Ensure all staff trainings are current certification filed (i.e., CPR, SCIP-R, Sexual Harassment, Diabetes etc.) and PPD’s.
- Responsible along with psychologist and behavioral specialist for the oversight of all behavior plans and data collection are properly documented and communicated accurately to all staff.
- Responsible for ensuring all household appliances and equipment are properly functioning and maintained.
- Responsible for ensuring participation at ISP meetings.
- Responsible for ensuring all residents books/file are up to date (this includes all ISP’s, Level of care, POPs, Res Hab Plans etc. 😉
- Responsible for staying current on all OPWDD regulations.
- Responsible to attend all professional development trainings.
- Reviews and monitor all resident’s nutritional needs.
- Develop, review and implement a weekly resident recreation schedule.
- Responsible to clock in and out via office computer.
- Must attend as needed IRC, Human Rights, and Consumer Rounds any and/or other committees that require the residence manager’s presence.
- Responsible to submit weekly schedule of meetings and appointment to both the Program Administrator of Residences and Office Manager.
- Responsible to ensure that the residence is in compliance with all state (OPWDD), Federal (CMS) and agency regulations and standards.
- Ensure that residence is always ready and in compliance for certification (audit) reviews. as necessary will be expected to work various and/or additional hours based on the needs of the residence and for preparing corrections on any statements of deficiencies.
- Conducts self in a professional manner.
- Communicates all information regarding residents and agency policies accurately and effectively.
- Responsible accurately monitoring, reviewing and documenting (all financial ledgers) all expenditures to include but not limited to ShopRite, wright express (gas purchases, and petty cash)
- Responsible all maintenance is addressed in a timely manner.
- To attend ISP meetings that is scheduled for the participants.
- To ensure that consumers assessments are current and file in their books, and the needed paperwork that is required by other providers. You are also responsible for ensuring that the other providers submit paperwork in a timely fashion.
- To ensure all participants request to go clothes shopping is done in a timely manner.
- As a manager you are responsible for the total operation of residence to include reviewing all medical books, all paperwork filed in participant’s books, behavioral plans, assessments, residential habilitation plans, reviewing billing documents for accuracy, and cleaning schedules.
- Responsible for checking the daily log every day.
- Responsible for doing a daily walk through of residence to ensure safety needs and cleanliness of residence.
- The Residence Manager will perform a weekly walk through of the residence to ensure that there is no extension cords piggy backed together in the residence. Any extension cords found to be piggy backed will be removed. Any infractions will be noted on the weekly report form used to indicate needed repairs or other issues..
- The Residence Manager will review the in-house occurrence forms and the communication log on a daily basis to ensure proper notification and reporting has occurred.
- The Residence manager and the medical coordinator will review the MARs on a daily basis when in the residence to ensure all medications have indeed been administered as prescribed by a physician and that all of the documentation is completed and is correct. Any discrepancies will be brought to the attention of the assigned AMAP for explanation and correction.
- The Residence Manager will oversee that the fire evacuation plan be utilized during the fire drills which are conducted monthly. The Residence Manager will also be responsible for ensuring all staff including new staff is appropriately trained.
- In the event that informed consent is needed for a new drug to control behavior medication, the ABSS, Residence Manager, Program Administrator of Residential Services or the Nurse along with at least one additional witness, will obtain verbal consent from the parent/family or correspondent or the individual.
- Twenty-four (24/7) hour responsibility for proper functioning of group home.
- Other duties as requested by the Program Administrator Residential Services, and the Deputy Executive Director and Executive Director
- Must be able to lift residents in the event they have issues walking.
