JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The School of International Affairs(SIA)is currently searching for apart-time Student Support Specialist to serve as the primary staff point of contact for all student affairs cases and crises including mental and other health concerns, emotional distress, financial hardship, accommodations, and other related concerns. In addition, the position will serve as the liaison to units such as Student Care and Advocacy, Student Disability Resources, Counseling and Psychological Services, and others as student needs arise. This position will be responsible for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts, the SIA Peer Mentor program, a weekly events bulletin, planning and promoting various student events and student affairs activities, serving as the adviser to the SIA Student Government Association and other duties as assigned. This position requires outstanding written and verbal communication skills, in addition to effective problem-solving skills and the use of sensitivity and professionalism. Additional competencies critical to success include a demonstrated commitment to diversity; strong organizational skills; accuracy and attention to detail; the ability to handle multiple priorities ranging from administrative tasks to student support meetings; and the ability to work effectively both as a team and individually.

Typically requires a master’s degree. The successful candidate will work approximately 20 hours per week (schedule will be determined with the supervisor). SIA is a professional graduate level program that is highly interdisciplinary with students coming from a wide range of backgrounds.
