Job Description
Dean of Students – Teacher on Assignment 3.1 3.1 out of 5 stars Coatesville, PA 19320 The Dean of Students at Coatesville Area School District plays a key role in supporting students and overseeing all aspects of student life outside the classroom. This position focuses on creating and enhancing a positive student experience tailored to their individual needs and opportunities. The Dean works closely with the Principal and teachers to assist students, families, and staff.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree with valid PA teaching certification. Three to five years teaching experience.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Excellent communication skills. Ability to interact with and to teach diverse populations. Proficiency in the use of technology for individual communication, research, and test administration and interpretation.
Other Requirements:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Must be able to position and move about/within the work area. Ability to retrieve, transport, position and reposition items, supplies and equipment needed to perform essential functions. Essential Functions and Duties Support and collaborate with the administration/staff. Support the school’s mission by providing leadership in student supervision, behavior, attendance, and discipline. Assist the administration in executing their plan and vision. Promote a safe, positive, inclusive, and restorative school culture by implementing systems such as PBIS and Restorative Practices. Check In for at risk students. Track Behavior, keep records and analyze data. Monitors classroom removals, and school suspensions. Behavior Contract- Devise a contract/expectation. Member of the leadership team. Support the teaching staff in the following: Classroom management Student-teacher relationships Restorative circles ELA Testing (Acadience) Liason between administration and staff Create a culture that emphasizes Scott PRIDE Follow up on referrals from staff and ensure the appropriate disciplinary measures are taken Support supervision during arrival, lunch, dismissal, and transition times Support teachers with small group learning Push in with substitutes or classroom coverage I.N. Ensure students are ready for the day. Create Mood Meters Transitions Sweep hallway for student tardies. Cafeteria Design a system that will promote an improved environment. Teacher Relationship Build strong relationships with the staff so they can trust your decision and support. Collaborate with the staff to make decisions that benefit a positive school culture. Promote consistency in procedures. Set up meet and greets with students, within the first month of school to help build school wide relationships. Community Relationship Building Meet and Greet with the parents in September. Coordinate activities Maintain Student of the Month Refer students/parents to school and out of school services.
