Assistant Director – Student Engagement 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 601 E. Main Street, Collegeville, PA 19426 Department Student Affairs Overview The Assistant Director(s) of Student Engagement assist with direct oversight of various functions connected to the student life experience at Ursinus College. They support the Associate Director, oversee Greek Life, support campus programming, oversee Commuter/Transfer Student services, plan/execute New Student Orientation and Bear Beginnings, oversee student leadership development, student organizations, SGA and serve as managers of our campus student engagement platforms: Guidebook and Suitable. Both Assistant Directors are live-in professionals who participate in the crisis response duty rotation. Responsibilities Responsibilities related to Commuter Central and Leadership Development Provides leadership for services, programs and policies that support commuter students, transfer students, Veteran students, adult learners, and other student populations. Establishes, implements, and assesses a new student leadership development program that will launch in Spring 2026 and be geared toward First Year and Sophomore students. Builds collaborative partnerships with faculty, departments and local community constituencies that foster student engagement and success. Responsible for the daily coordination of the department and the commuter lounge. Initiate, plan and facilitate events tailored to commuters, nontraditional, and other students. Serve as primary advisor of Student Government Association, SGA with support of the Associate Director. Assists with managing the Organization Accreditation Process (OAP) and Student Club and Organization Training (SCOT) sessions for AFAC-funded student organizations. Coordinate assessment of the curricular approach for commuter students, transfers, adult learners, and Veterans, as well as Student Engagement programming. Assist in planning, facilitating, and evaluating student-initiated campus programs. Serve as a resource for students concerning information about campus programming and organizations. Assist in recruiting and selecting students for the Orientation Leader program. Assist with creating all resource materials for campus organizations, off-campus activities, advisors’ manual, and the student organization manual. Assist in maintaining any Student Engagement mobile applications, the Student Engagement website, orientation website, and utilize social media to market programming and orientation. Assist in maintaining and reviewing the department’s budget. Work collaboratively with campus partners in planning, implementing, and evaluating Orientation, Bear Beginnings, Family Weekend, Homecoming. Promote an environment that affirms diversity, intercultural interaction, and community building activities. Serves on the crisis response team in an on-call rotation. Serve on campus wide committees as needed. Responsibilities related to Student Engagement, Greek Life and Orientation Lead Greek life initiatives including recruitment and new member education and advise Greek Presidents Council and Inter-Greek Council. Assist in the chartering process of new Greek Organizations on campus Lead mediations and conflict management sessions with various Greek Organizations Select, train, and supervise student employees Support all orientation programs Assist in managing and maintaining department budget Lead the recruitment/training for Orientation Leaders as well as the planning and execution of New Student Orientation and Bear Beginnings with support of the Associate Director. Plan, facilitate, and evaluate student-initiated campus programs, and weekend vibrancy programming. Collaborate with various departments across campus to create a more robust ‘out of the classroom’ student experience Serve as a resource for students concerning information about campus programming and organizations. Requirements and Qualifications Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree in Higher Ed. Counseling, Student Personnel, or closely related field preferred. Two to three years’ experience in student affairs, which may include work experience during graduate school. Experience or working knowledge of the following areas: leadership training, Greek life, student programming, new student orientation, office administration, advising and supervision. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point, publisher, etc.) data base management, and web page software. Familiarity with the small residential liberal arts college setting. Many weekend and evening hours are required with this position. The expectation of high campus visibility and relationship building among all members of the Ursinus community including, but not limited to faculty, staff, and students is greatly desired.
