Full time, 12-month, Exempt
Community Preparatory School seeks a director of admission to join our administrative team. This is a full time, exempt, salaried position. The director of admissions will report to and be supervised by the head of school. Our ideal candidate would have experience in recruitment and admissions work, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be bilingual in English/Spanish, and possess a demonstrated interest or passion in working with underrepresented groups and their families.
Specific responsibilities of the director of admissions shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
Design and implement a comprehensive strategic plan to attract new students to the school.
Direct the admissions process from point of inquiry through enrollment.
This includes:
Planning and executing live and virtual recruitment events.
Engaging in direct outreach and communication with appropriate schools, organizations, and community leaders, traveling as necessary.
Interviewing prospective students and their families.
Overseeing follow-up with inquiries/applicants and tracking the outreach process.
Review the applications of all admissions candidates, and work with the admissions department and the principal to make final decisions for admissions to the school.
Organize and administer, with the head of school, the program for scholarships and financial aid.
Continually evaluate and redesign, where appropriate, all aspects of the admissions program with the goal of maintaining a capacity enrollment of qualified students and a waitlist of qualified applicants.
Manage and evaluate the admissions coordinator annually.
Work with the outreach coordinator and communications officer to provide social media content and outreach to help with admissions and development efforts.
Be on the school’s Outreach and Communications Committee.
Perform other tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate by the head of school.
Required qualifications:
Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A strong affinity for working with elementary and middle school-aged students and their families.
Comfort and curiosity with technology, including databases, and a willingness to utilize multiple systems.
Ability to work independently and as a team.
A willingness to work a flexible schedule, as evening and weekend work is sometimes required.
Preferred qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree.
Minimum two years of experience in an admissions office and/or independent school.
Experience recruiting and working with populations that have been historically underrepresented in independent schools.
Proficiency in Spanish.

School Description:
Community Preparatory School – an independent middle school, serving grades four through eight – was co-founded in 1984 by educator and school reform advocate Dan Corley and economist Bob Hahn. The school currently serves 140 students, of whom 91 percent receive substantial financial aid. To date, 97 percent of its graduates have been accepted into college preparatory high school programs, and 83 percent are attending or have graduated from college.
