Director of Student Involvement 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 503 South Broad Street, Clinton, SC Director of Student Involvement Position Overview The Director of Student Involvement, a vital position within the Division of Student Affairs, is a leader and community builder. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, direction, and vision while overseeing the daily operations of the Student Involvement Office. They will report to the Dean of Students and lead a staff team who will continue to enhance the out-of-class experience for our entire campus. Primary Position Responsibilities Lead the Department of Student Involvement Oversee the budget area for Student Involvement and advise the Student Government Association on proper use of funding and business office protocols Develop strategic plans in line with the institutional strategic plan for Student Involvement Supervise and mentor professional staff to establish sustainable Campus Recreation, Greek Life, Orientation Programs, Student Activities, Student Government Association, and other student involvement programs Administer assessment and coordinate implementation for all program areas of Student Involvement Develop student leaders and assist in the development of their leadership, collaboration, and critical thinking skills to support individual, organizational, and campus initiatives Supervise at least two Assistant Directors of Student Involvement who assist in operating: Fraternity/Sorority Life Oversee Fraternity/Sorority Life (five national fraternities and three national sororities) to promote college and national standards for leadership development, philanthropy, and service initiatives Develop best practices for risk management and implement education/training programs for students and advisors Manage Fraternity/Sorority event registration process; cover event registration process for AD of Student Involvement Orientation and Events as needed Orientation and Events Develop, implement, and assess orientation programming for fall and spring new students’ Develop weekend programming and activate student organizations to develop weekend and evening programming Advise Student Activities Board to develop consistent programming that appeals to a wide range of student groups and interests Manage Campus Groups software, developing it for use throughout the year Recreation and Club Sports Develop, implement, and assess intramural sports programming Oversee Springs Student Center and Fitness Center operations and student staff Recruit, select, assess, train, and retain student recreation staff Promote wellness initiatives for the campus Manage Club Sports program Additional Departmental Responsibilities Participate in Student Affairs team initiatives, staff meetings and committees as assigned Participate in institutional effectiveness measures including annual goals, objectives, planning and assessment of learning outcomes Participate in appropriate state, regional or national professional organizations Perform secondary on-call rotation duties for scheduled evenings and weekends and other duties as assigned by senior staff Qualifications and Expectations The successful candidate will have: A minimum of a master’s degree in higher education or a similar program and at least three to five years of professional experience and success in areas involving Campus Recreation, Fraternity/Sorority Life, Orientation, Student Activities, and/or Student Government. The ability to make independent judgments, work autonomously, manage large projects, and demonstrate initiative. The understanding of the need to work evening and weekend hours, and the desire to be present for campus events. The ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion, think critically, make good decisions, and defend decision-making reasonably and effectively. The ability to build strong campus relationships and partnerships within a community The ability to receive and provide constructive feedback and make improvements to work practices and programs based on that feedback Demonstrated organizational, administrative, financial, and interpersonal skills, and a sincere commitment to working for and with students.
