DESCRIPTION
The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of residential life programs and services that promote student engagement, community development, and academic success. The RLC will work collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty to create a positive living-learning environment that supports the mission and values of Newberry College.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Community Development:
Foster a welcoming and inclusive community among upperclassmen residents in suitestyle and apartment-style living environments. Plan and implement programs and activities that encourage student involvement and personal growth. Mediate conflicts and address student concerns in a timely and effective manner. 2.
Staff Supervision and Training:
Recruit, train, and supervise a team of Resident Assistants (RAs). Conduct regular staff meetings and provide ongoing professional development opportunities. Evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback. 3.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Assist in the administration of residence hall operations, including room assignments and maintenance requests. Maintain accurate records related to incidents, programs, and student conduct. Manage budgets for programming and hall activities. 4.
Student Support:
Serve as a resource for students regarding academic, personal, and social issues. Collaborate with counseling services and the Center for Student Success to support student well-being. Develop and maintain relationships with students to foster trust and engagement. 5.
Policy Implementation:
Enforce college policies and procedures related to residence life. Conduct regular assessments of the living environment and recommend improvements. Prepare reports on residence life activities and student engagement for college administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field preferred; bachelor’s degree required. Experience in residence life, student affairs, or related fields. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations. Crisis management and conflict resolution skills. Understanding of the challenges faced by upperclassmen in a college setting.
COMPENSATION
Starting at $34,000 annually depending on experience Two-bedroom apartment $2,000 yearly meal plan allocation
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position is a 12-month, live-in position. On-call responsibilities required during the week and on holidays on a rotating basis. Although this position requires approximately 37.5 hours per week, the nature of the position, at times, necessitates unpredictable workweeks including nights and weekends. Some weeks require more than 40 hours. This position requires evening and weekend hours. The nature of this position requires that the RLC lives on campus in a furnished, assigned house/apartment located within the area of responsibility.
