Position Description Advertised Job Summary Assistant Director of Student Disability Resource Center Do you have leadership experience? The University of South Carolina is seeking a student-centered professional to serve as Assistant Director of the Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC). Reporting to the Director of the SDRC, the Assistant Director plays a pivotal role in ensuring access and inclusion for students with disabilities through leadership, direct service, and collaborative partnerships across campus and the community. This position is responsible for overseeing daily operations, supervising professional staff, managing data and reporting, serving on university-wide committees, and maintaining a caseload of students receiving accommodations. The Assistant Director will contribute to the strategic direction of the office, promote a culture of access, and ensure compliance with ADA, Section 504, and other applicable laws and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise Accommodations Coordinators and assist with oversight of front office operations to ensure effective and inclusive service delivery. Maintain a caseload of students with disabilities and coordinate individualized accommodations including test proctoring, alternative formats, assistive technology, note-taking, interpreting services, counseling referrals, adapted housing, and more. Oversee unit-wide data collection and assessment efforts; generate reports to inform service enhancements and strategic planning. Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, families, and external agencies to implement accommodations and build inclusive practices across campus. Serve as a university liaison on accessibility-related matters and participate in university-wide committees as assigned. Remain current on disability-related legislation, compliance standards, and best practices in higher education. Promote awareness and education around disability services to foster a more inclusive campus environment. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dean of Students and Director of the SDRC.
