Position Description Advertised Job Summary Coordinator for Community Growth Are you excited about guiding and supporting students in their academic and personal development? Do you have experience in Fraternity or Sorority Life and overseeing the operations of chapters? The Coordinator for Community Growth is responsible for student advisement, educational programming, and chapter management for fraternities and sororities at the University of South Carolina. This role ensures the development of transformative leaders and allows opportunities for students to participate in beyond the classroom activities. This position will actively contribute to the rich, vibrant, and inclusive living and learning experience for all members of the Greek community.

Primary duties include:

Primary advisor to one of the four student governing councils Oversee operations of recruitment/intake, new member orientation and expansion efforts Campus and community presentations Community-wide education and programming and assessment efforts that support student leaders Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Membership in a Greek organization is strongly preferred. Master’s degree in higher education or related field and/or experience in the areas of curriculum or program development, fraternity/sorority operations, advisement, publications, and computer skills are strongly preferred. Fraternity/sorority leadership consultant experience or experience at a national headquarters office is strongly preferred. May graduates will be considered if they will be able to obtain their degree by the date of employment. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of the basic principles and theories of student development, leadership theory and public relations. Ability to interact with internal and external constituents and community partners on a regular basis. Skilled in planning and executing special events and one-time programs. Ability to interpret and apply policy and procedure as it applies to program coordination and implementation. Ability to coordinate multiple high level tasks simultaneously with high degree of attention to detail.

Job Duties Job Duty Council Advising:

Serve as the primary advisor to one of the four student governing councils, oversee recruitment/intake, new member orientation, and expansion efforts, provide guidance and oversight to the council budget, attend regular meetings with the council, provide strategic guidance, and support chapter and council growth through regular assessment. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Chapter coaching: Serve as the primary advisor to a cohort of chapters through the chapter coaching model, serve as a liaison to the university when working with local and state advisors and national headquarters staff. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Campus and community presentations (Family Weekend, etc.): Support office communication initiatives including campus and community presentations, promotional materials, and brand management. Collect data and organize reports at the end of each semester to generate a publication that will be shared with internal and external stakeholders. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty Responsible for coordinating administrative duties. This includes, but is not limited to, overseeing the renewal/registration process, chapter roster changes that impact other financial processes, and individual membership forms. Additionally, assist the office in managing Beyond the Classroom Matters to advance Division priorities. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty Implement community-wide education, programming, and assessment efforts that support the development of skills that help student leaders prepare for a successful transition to the professional world after graduation. Partner and collaborate with key campus offices to ensure programs, services, and activities support the student experience. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty Crisis management: Assist in the emergency support system for the Greek community and respond to critical incidents as needed. Serve as a member on the on-call duty rotation. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Other duties as assigned.
