Residence Life and Housing; +1 Student Affairs and Services The Area Coordinators are responsible for supporting the student experience within the residential community, working with 30 student staff members and essential housing operations processes and procedures. The Area Coordinators serve on the professional staff team for the Department of Residence Life (“the Department”) and report to the Director of Residence Life and Dean of Students. Responsibilities include understanding and stewardship of the residents, staff, and physical facilities of their assigned area. They must possess excellent decision-making, organizational, and leadership skills. The Area Coordinators are to be active campus and community leaders for students. This is a full-time (12-month), exempt, live-in position. Normal hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday; however, hours will vary widely to include working evenings and weekends, contingent on activities, events, residence life meetings, and serving on the on-call rotation. A highly successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, with a master’s degree preferred, in higher education or related fields and show an aptitude for communicating effectively in a professional manner with a diverse population of students, faculty, and administrators. They must have the ability to multi-task and respond effectively in high-stress situations or crises. Preference will be provided for candidates with a demonstrated knowledge of the environment of a small, residential liberal arts campus, an understanding of the cyclical process of university housing, and a willingness to commit to the mission and goals of Converse University.
