Job Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Student Life leads all marketing and communication efforts for the Office of Student Life and the Department of Student Engagement, coordinates the mascot program and events, and oversees student organization operations. This role serves as a key resource and support for both students and advisors and assists with programs and services.
Develops and implements comprehensive marketing strategies to promote student life activities and events; Manages all communication channels, including newsletters, emails, and social media platforms; Creates engaging and visually appealing content to increase student engagement and participation; Serves as the social media manager for the Department of Student Engagement; Monitors and updates social media accounts regularly, ensuring timely and relevant posts; Analyzes media metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and make data-driven improvements.
Plans and coordinates all mascot-related events and appearances, ensures the mascot’s presence at key campus events; Manages the mascot’s schedule, logistics, and any necessary training or preparation; Collaborates with other departments and student organizations to integrate the mascot into various activities.
Leads and supports student organization operations, including managing requests and providing resources; Serves as a primary resource for student leaders and advisors, offering guidance and support; Facilitates training and development opportunities for student organizations to enhance their effectiveness and impact.
Supervises the part-time evening services coordinator; Coordinates and assists with evening programs and services, ensuring they meet the needs and interests of students; Supports the Student Life team with event planning, logistics, and execution, particularly for large-scale events.
Leads all community service and engagement opportunities, encouraging student participation in volunteer activities; Develops and maintains relationships with community organizations to facilitate service projects; Coordinates and promotes community service events and initiatives; Supports initiatives that promote civic responsibility and social awareness among students.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Life, contributing to the overall success of the department. Participates in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in student engagement and marketing.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and experience in student services programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field. 2-4 years of progressively responsible experience in student affairs, student engagement, or campus programming. Experience supervising staff or student workers.
Additional Comments
Able to work nights and weekends when needed or assigned. Some travel is required.
