Office University Registrar Hours Primary Duties and

Responsibilities:

The position functions as an academic analyst in the Registrar’s Office with primary duties that encompass academic transcript evaluation for equivalency, and course equivalency entry in the Banner system; on-going and final degree requirement verification; DegreeWorks (DW) scripting for purposes of supporting all degree audit functions and degree tracking, which includes review and entry of appropriate academic substitution forms. The position will work directly and often independently with departments / faculty advisors and students on reviews of equivalencies and DW audits, with all final verified information entered into the Banner system and DW. Other regular duties entail daily support of functional operations that may include
registration, course drop/add management, verifications, scanning, commencement, and student record management.
Conduct and track all academic audits including final degree audits.
Perform primary transcript evaluations as related to degree applicability and academic equivalency.
Review transfer equivalency issues as related to application toward degree requirements.
Review and coordination of academic substitution forms.
Enforce degree requirements and institutional policies related to completion of degree.
Enter data into university database relative to degree requirements (Banner and DegreeWorks). Regular interaction with all levels of academic administrative areas, academic departments and faculty to coordinate relative to regular updates in DegreeWorks / degree tracking software and changes in curriculum.
Be able to provide “scriptwriting” and/or critical review in DegreeWorks audit software.
Support and assist with commencement.
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of state, federal and institutional regulations and the university’s compliance to the same.
Work with the University’s academic information infrastructure including academic records archives, on-line student database, World Wide Web and other electronic databases and information systems.
Daily handling of questions and concerns, dealing with student records, schedules and transcripts and degree audits.
Upgrade professional knowledge, evaluate new technologies, and recommend implementation as needed.
Support University Registrar in daily operations and coordination of Registrar’s Office / Student Records.

Ability to make important academic discernments of course and degree requirements against a backdrop of accreditation and university policies.
Knowledge of university course equivalencies and transfer policies for appropriate degree progress.
Knowledge of matriculation standards in coordination with other institutions or via contractual agreement.
Knowledge and understanding of course substitution processes for integration into degree audit system.
Computer proficiency in order to accurately enter evaluated data.
Fast and accurate keyboarding for regular data entry.
Computer proficiency that is sufficient to understand and learn targeted degree audit software at a programing / scriptwriting level.
Knowledge of higher education infrastructure in order to effectively coordinate with administration and / or faculty where necessary to negotiate course(s) toward an equitable and consistent application of student work toward degree.
Required EducationBachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience. Required Experience
Three years of experience in a Registrar’s Office or administrative or academic area with evaluative transcript and/or degree audit review or equivalent.
Experience with higher education integrated databases (Banner preferred).
