The Dean will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer of the College, providing visionary leadership that aligns with TSU’s mission of fostering excellence in education, research, and service. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and innovative leader with a strong record of academic and professional achievements, a commitment to student success, faculty development, community engagement, and experience with AACSB accreditation. The Dean will play a critical role in advancing the College of Business, strengthening its impact on the regional and global business community, and expanding opportunities for faculty and students through research, industry partnerships, and experiential learning. This position reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Administration Provide visionary and strategic leadership to advance the College of Business, ensuring alignment with the University’s mission, vision, and strategic plan. Oversee academic programs, faculty recruitment and development, research initiatives, and student success efforts. Ensure compliance with AACSB accreditation standards and lead efforts to maintain and enhance accreditation status. Develop and manage the College’s budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource optimization. Student Success & Academic Excellence Foster a student-centered learning environment that promotes academic rigor, career readiness, and leadership development. Expand experiential learning opportunities, including internships, entrepreneurship programs, and global business experiences. Support initiatives that enhance retention, graduation rates, and post-graduate career success. Faculty Support & Development Recruit, retain, and support a diverse and highly qualified faculty committed to teaching, research, and service. Promote faculty development, mentorship, and opportunities for research, publications, and presentations. Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in teaching methodologies. Community & Industry Engagement Strengthen relationships with business leaders, corporations, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to expand internship, job placement, and partnership opportunities. Serve as a key representative of the College in the Nashville business community and beyond, fostering connections that benefit students and faculty. Promote initiatives that enhance entrepreneurship, economic development, and leadership within the local and global business landscape. Research, Funding, & Publications Encourage and support faculty research, securing external funding through grants and/or industry partnerships. Facilitate faculty and student engagement in publications, conferences, and professional presentations. Advance a culture of intellectual inquiry, innovation, and thought leadership within the College.

Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications:

Earned doctorate from an accredited institution that is aligned with one of the disciplines of the college. Distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and leadership at a level that warrants a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Full Professor. Leadership experience in a College of Business or academic setting. Demonstrated success in AACSB accreditation processes, curriculum development, and academic program growth. Strong financial and administrative management skills, including budget oversight and strategic planning. Proven ability to foster student success, faculty excellence, and community partnerships. Experience securing grants, corporate sponsorships, and donor contributions to support academic initiatives. A commitment to multi- and cross-cultural student, staff and faculty collaboration and development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience leading a land-grant or HBCU institution or working in a setting with a similar mission. Strong connections with business leaders, government agencies, and economic development organizations. Experience in developing online and hybrid business programs to expand accessibility and student engagement. Industry/Business experience.
