We recruit STEM professionals to mentor and expose students to projects, and ideas that they normally would not have access to. YO-STEM provides three flagship programs to expose students to

STEM:

Girls in STEM (gSTEM), STEM Saturday, and Robotics. Youth Outreach in STEM Program Director YO-STEM is looking for a highly skilled Program Director to help us fulfill the important undertaking of providing valuable STEM programs to the youth. Reporting to the board of directors’ president, the program director will oversee the operational efficiency of our programs and volunteers. Prior experience managing and selecting volunteers is essential, and established relationships with local community groups is a plus. Above all, this individual will be comfortable in a leadership role that demands clear communication, decisiveness, and ability to establish plans for working within allotted program budgets and Key Performance Indicators.

Responsibilities:

Manages the coordination and implementation of YO-STEM programs in local communities.

This includes:

Program management Communication with volunteers, project leads and parents Collaborating with local communities to increase participation in YO-STEM Report to the Board of Directors the progress and status of YO-STEM programs and volunteers. Working hand in hand with the Board President. Ensures all program leads are trained, and have the proper materials and supplies needed to conduct STEM activities. Build relationships and nurture partnerships with schools, community organizations, and other relevant stakeholders Organize STEM events, such as workshops, presentations, and STEM fairs.

Duties:

Develop, coordinate, and implement STEM outreach activities and programs Support programming and volunteer goals set by the YO-STEM strategic plan Track and report on outreach activities and outcomes Interview, train and supervise volunteers Manage volunteer database and supply inventory Develop partnerships with local STEM organizations and schools for the expansion of YO-STEM programming into East Tennessee schools Schedule STEM experiments and volunteers for gSTEM and STEM Saturday Purchase, organize, and distribute supplies for these experiments to volunteers Register students for science fairs and robotics competitions Coordinate logistics for robotics competitions. Prepare and distribute YO-STEM educational materials on programming to schools, local organizations, and the community. Evaluate and improve outreach activities Advocate for STEM education and careers Stay current on STEM education trends and advancements Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of relevant work experience. 2 years of management experience, preferably with a nonprofit Knowledge of leadership and management principles related to nonprofits Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys working with people and families Excellent verbal, written, presentation and communication skills Strong knowledge of STEM fields and education Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks Experience working with diverse populations Proficient in

Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace Additional Information Work Environment:

50% Office, 50% Work from home, including some weekend work, frequent travel to schools and community organizations, and occasional overnight travel.
