POSITION SUMMARY
Christ Community Health Services AHEC and Family Medicine Residency (FMR) Coordinator plans, organizes, implements, and supports evaluations for grant-funded West Tennessee Area Health Education Centers, the Urban Medical Year intern (UMYI) program, and the CCHS Family Medicine Residency program. The role of AHEC and FMR Coordinator is to support clinical training across the continuum of clinical education. The Coordinator develops interdisciplinary learning objectives and action plans for AHEC Scholars and manages communication with AHEC Scholars in West Tennessee. The AHEC and FMR Coordinator recruits candidates for the AHEC Scholars program, including students from historically underrepresented backgrounds and low-income communities. The AHEC and FMR Coordinator works effectively with the TN AHEC Scholars Collaborative team to develop and implement effective teaching materials to be utilized by physician preceptors across various healthcare systems that achieve the objectives set forth among various healthcare training programs. Also, the coordinator will seek and secure training sites for AHEC Scholars located in rural and underserved settings that meet the criteria for preparing Scholars to deliver effective health services in the West Tennessee region upon entering the workforce. The AHEC and FMR Coordinator is responsible for the day to day management of the FMR training program, including compliance with Accreditation Council for General Medical Education (ACGME) requirements. This position ensures compliance with the non-clinical ACGME accreditation requirements, ABMS requirements, and state and federal regulations. This position works with the residency director (a physician) who is responsible for the clinical compliance of the training program. The coordinator administratively supervises 4
- 12 medical residents, manages the program budget, enforces policies and procedures, faciliates the annual recruitment process, and is the liaison between the training program and teaching hospitals, accrediting body, applicants, and the public.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages non-clinical requirements for the training programs, and the residents and students report administratively to this position. The coordinator works with limited supervision and must be organized, use discretion, and employ independent judgment to handle various issues as they arise each day. Manage the resident block schedule, the master schedule that assigns each resident to each rotation to ensure they meet all their required rotations as mandated by ACGME and ABM; coordinates didactic training for AHEC scholars focused on the six Core Topic Areas as determined by the Health Resources Administration (HRSA); manage UMYI rotation assignments. Collaborates with various health professions programs to recruit and successfully secure student and resident participation. Collaborates with partnering affiliates to coordinate-appropriate level of rotations and activities for participating students and residents. Coordinates and promotes information on TN AHEC Scholars sponsored programs and events. Coordinates visiting student rotations at CCHS Implements FM resident, UMYI, and AHEC Scholars’ orientations, workshops, and professional/preceptor training. Helps to monitor contractual deadlines and completes all required grant related reporting needs in an accurately and timely manner. Assists the efforts of the collaborating TN AHEC team in providing youth recruitment workshops and maintains relationships with students and stakeholders. Assists with the development and maintenance of affiliation agreements, helps to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with local educators, schools, HOSA groups, organizations, health care professionals, and communities to meet objectives and targets and improve program delivery. Assists Regional Director in monitoring and reporting on strategic plan activities of West TN AHEC Scholars Participates in relevant committees overseeing undergraduate and postgraduate education, including the Graduate Medical Education Committee and relevant subcommittees and keeps minutes for meetings Helps to assure the overall success of West TN AHEC by performing all other duties in accordance with grant contracts and as assigned by

Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Education, Administration, Planning, or related field. At least two years of experience in a health or education-related field is required. Experience in clinical training programs, preceptor development, or previous AHEC experience is preferred. Public speaking, fiscal management, and project planning experience is preferred.
Experience:
Strong background in public health or public administration strongly preferred.
