POSITION OVERVIEW
The Annual Fund & Major Gifts Officer, a key member of the OIA team , holds two essential responsibilities: (1) planning, implementing, and evaluating the annual giving program with the specific focus on securing unrestricted funds, (2) securing major gifts while nurturing current and identifying new major gifts donors, including planned giving gifts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Annual Giving Campaign Management:
Develop and execute comprehensive annual giving campaigns across multiple channels (e.g., direct mail, email, online giving, phone-a-thons, crowdfunding). This includes setting goals, developing budgets, managing timelines, and overseeing campaign materials
Donor Cultivation and Stewardship:
Cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors through personalized communication, including thank you notes, e-newsletters, and other forms of engagement. Implement stewardship strategies to maintain and enhance donor relationships
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Analyze data from Raiser’s Edge to identify trends, track campaign performance, and inform future strategies. Prepare regular reports on annual giving progress, including key metrics such as participation rates, average gift size, and overall revenue
Marketing and Communications:
Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote annual giving initiatives and planned giving educational opportunities that create compelling content for various channels (e.g., website, social media, email)
Teamwork and Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other members of the OIA team to ensure a coordinated and effective fundraising approach
Budget Management:
Manage the annual giving budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and tracking expenses
Prospect Research and Identification:
Identify, research, and cultivate potential new donors, including planned giving donors by analyzing donor databases, conducting prospect research, and attending relevant events
Provide Educational Opportunities:
Identify and host planned giving presentations, one-on-one meetings, and written materials to provide donor opportunities including, bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, and life insurance gifts
Maintain Ongoing Communication:
provide accurate and up-to-date goal-oriented records of giving activities, personalized correspondence and stewardship reports, and participation in relevant events
Collaboration:
Work effectively with other members of the OIA team and perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the Office of Institutional Advancement
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This role requires a highly motivated and organized individual with excellent communication, interpersonal, and data analysis skills and a deep understanding of the importance of unrestricted support for long term institutional flexibility and operational needs. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, or related field) Proven experience (specify number of years) in annual giving, fundraising, or a related field, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit setting

Strong understanding of fundraising principles and best practices Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to build rapport and trust with diverse individuals Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge Strong analytical and data interpretation skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively Commitment to the mission of LeMoyne-Owen College
