Description:
The Dean of Faculty and Instruction is charged with advancing the mission and vision of Pope Saint John Paul II Preparatory School by supporting and guiding the academic faculty. In collaboration with the Principal, this role provides leadership to ensure excellence in teaching and learning across grades 6-12. The Dean nurtures a culture of high standards, continuous growth, and community by fostering a positive, faith-centered, and collaborative environment for faculty, staff, and students. Performance Responsibilities Academic Leadership Partner with the Principal to shape and implement a clear, strategic academic vision; Ensure curriculum quality and vertical alignment across grades 6-12 in collaboration with department chairs; Promote academic rigor and excellence while remaining developmentally appropriate; Align academic programming with strategic goals and mission-driven initiatives Faculty Support & Evaluation Lead faculty recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring processes; Oversee teacher evaluation procedures, including classroom observations and performance reviews; Train and support department chairs in conducting effective evaluations and fostering faculty growth; Promote and model best practices in instruction and classroom management Curriculum and Instruction Oversight Facilitate academic council meetings and meet regularly with department chairs to set and assess instructional goals; Collaborate with faculty to support classroom management, student engagement, and instructional effectiveness; Encourage innovation and the use of data to inform teaching practices and program decisions; Coordinate with academic departments and administration to ensure curriculum meets graduation and college-readiness standards Administrative and Operational Coordination Partner with the Registrar and Director of Counseling on course registration and student scheduling; Manage Title II and Title IV federal funding in cooperation with the Sumner County Board of Education; Coordinate academic data collection and analysis to evaluate program effectiveness; Collaborate with the Student Life Office to ensure faculty responsibilities and supervision duties are fairly distributed; Oversee the development and monitoring of academic department budgets in coordination with department chairs and the Business Office; Assist the Principal with staffing decisions and the development of new academic initiatives This is a year-round position with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities required to support school events and academic functions. Requirements:
Qualifications A commitment to and lived expression of the Christian mission of the school Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MA/MS, Ed.
D., or Ph.D.) preferred Minimum of 10 years of classroom teaching experience Prior experience in faculty supervision, curriculum development, and assessment preferred Strong understanding of middle and high school education and faculty development Effective time management, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents Proven team building and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects High expectations for academic performance balanced with compassion and care Experience planning and executing strategic initiatives and academic events
