Lecturer, History Department 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars One Drexel Drive, New Orleans, LA 70125 Posting Details Posting Summary Position Title Lecturer, History Department FLSA Department Department Of History Job Summary The Department of History at Xavier University of Louisiana invites applicants for a one-year full time lecturer position in History to begin August 2025. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in History with experience in the teaching of world history, including introductory thematic world history courses. While the time period and geographical region of specialized area of research is open, preference will be given to applicants with additional expertise in colonialism, race, gender, identity, and nation-building. Candidates must have a promising teaching and scholarly agenda and have completed their Ph.D. by the time of appointment (ABD candidates will be considered). About the Department The Department of History has five full time faculty members and several part-time instructors working across a range of interests and areas of expertise. Department faculty are proud of the quality of instruction, undergraduate research, and the accomplishments of their students. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in History or a related field Strong commitment to teaching a full load of 24 credit hours per academic year; Write and Speak English proficiently Preferred Qualifications Experience with teaching at the undergraduate level with preference for experience in thematic world history courses.
