Description
The Department of Religion and Theology at Stillman College invites applications for Online Instructors. Applicants should be able to teach introductory online courses on the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, as well as junior or upper-level online courses in biblical studies and the Black religious traditions. Successful applicants will begin in August 2025.
A Doctorate in Religion or Theology is preferred; minimum degree requirements are a master’s degree in religion, theology, or relevant disciplines from a regionally accredited university, seminary, or divinity school, with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hour credits in religion. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in student learning and be able to promote students’ ability to succeed in a multicultural and global community. Applicants are expected to provide evidence of relevant experience and training in online teaching or participate in the in-house online instructional training Stillman College administers.
Job Responsibilities
Demonstrating multicultural competence, including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations, and creating an educational environment that affirms commitment to the distinctive mission of Historically Black Colleges and Universities and institutions with historic covenants with Christian denominational founders.
Creatively designing online learning experiences that extend beyond delivering content to assist students in achieving course, program, and degree outcomes focused on critical thinking and analytical skills, cultural awareness and sensitivity, effective oral and written communication, and leadership capacities.
Analyzing course assessments, evaluations, and data and engaging in continuous improvement of courses based on that analysis to advance student achievement of outcomes, success in subsequent courses, and impact on retention and graduation.
Utilizing active and inclusive pedagogy that provides students with diverse learning and assessment models for success as indicated by best practices in online instruction.
