Brandon Academy BA seeks a full-time 5th-grade homeroom teacher who will teach 4th and 5th-grade English and History for the 2025 – 2026 school year. Located in Brandon, Florida, Brandon Academy is a small, coeducational college preparatory school for students in JK -12th grade. Job Responsibilities Plan and facilitate effectively differentiated lessons in reading, writing, handwriting, spelling, and history. Contribute to building and maintaining equitable, inclusive, and respectful environments for all students and families. Assess student learning on an ongoing basis and use this information to inform instruction Co-plan with teaching colleagues. Work cooperatively with teachers across the division. Collaborate with Art, Music, and PE teachers. Foster a classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and being curious. Practice thoughtful, respectful, and effective classroom management techniques which support active learning and promote responsibility, self-management, and positive relationships. Maintain frequent contact with families, including newsletters, emails, meetings, and informal conversations. Write progress reports and participate in parent/teacher conferences. Attend all faculty and divisional meetings. Supervise students during recess and other non-class times as assigned. Develop, plan, and supervise field trips. Qualifications & Skills A Bachelor’s degree with a teaching qualification or equivalent; A minimum of 3 years of experience as an elementary classroom teacher with a proven track record of excellence in teaching and classroom management (preferred); Strong knowledge and understanding of child development and best practices in education; Outstanding interpersonal and problem-solving skills; A proven ability to use and integrate technology effectively into the classroom setting to enhance and enrich the student learning experience; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Creative and visionary with a growth mindset and willingness to innovate and collaborate with others; Empathetic, supportive, good sense of humor, and a positive disposition.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Three or more years of teaching experience is strongly preferred. However, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above requirements.
