Description Reporting to the Principal of Lakeland Gateway to College Collegiate High School, this full-time teaching position will provide English and reading instruction with academic-related activities designed to encourage, support and enable student success.

Examples of Duties Essential Functions/Duties:

Teach courses in accordance with published course descriptions, schedules, procedures, and course outlines.
Work with the campus dean, associate dean, department chairs and other faculty and staff as appropriate to assess and modify course and program goals, objectives, methods, and content.
Conduct ongoing evaluation of student progress and maintain records of student course/class performance.
Prepare and submit grade reports and other reports on student performance as may be scheduled or required.
Conduct class evaluations and complete other college evaluations in accordance with college policy.
Maintain a high level of expertise in the subjects taught.

Typical Qualifications Required Skills:

Demonstrated extensive knowledge of the subject area(s) in which the individual is responsible for instruction.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and of effective instruction.
Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of high school students.
Knowledge and understanding of principles of curriculum development.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing, and orally with a variety of audiences in a variety of settings.
Ability to make professional judgments within defined parameters of policy and professional standards. Working Conditions/Additional Information
Normal office and classroom working conditions. Attendance at seminars and conferences is beneficial and may be required. Salary and Benefits Information
The compensation (pay level) for this position is based upon the degree level attained and years of teaching experience.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Possession or eligibility for a Florida Teaching Certificate or Statement of Eligibility in the subject to be taught is required. Reading endorsement or certification is required. Preferred Education
A Master’s with 18 graduate hours in English, Reading, or related discipline preferred.

Preferred Experience:

Teaching experience is preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in community or state college teaching and assessment. Supplemental Information Submissions that do not include all parts of the following required information will not be considered: A resume.
