SCHOOL HISTORY TEACHER
Pace Academy is an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, Ga., with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade. This faculty member will teach five (5) sections of history (including but not limited to Ancient World History ) to students in grades nine through 12. The ideal candidate has been successful in a collaborative setting, exhibits good judgment and possesses excellent communication skills. Enthusiasm for teaching, especially teenagers, is a critical quality. Candidates should possess a wealth of patience, humor, energy and creativity and should work well within a team of teachers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares course objectives and outlines for courses of study in conjunction with other Upper School faculty, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops Collaborate with other history department faculty to ensure consistency in curriculum delivery Attends training, professional development and education in antiracism, diversity, equity and inclusion and incorporates these principles in teaching and classroom culture Communicates effectively with parents in a timely manner Leads parent-teacher conferences Attends parent gatherings and assists with school-sponsored trips Participates in the co-curricular activities of the school community (such as coaching, sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, etc.) Other duties may be assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred. One or both must be in history Two to five years of teaching experience is ideal; high-school experience preferred Strong sense of humor, flexibility and desire to work with high-school students is required Demonstrated successful coaching experience desired Must be available for after-school student help Attendance at evening and weekend functions is occasionally required Belief in the critical importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in the life of a school so as to foster a sense of belonging Proficient use of technology is necessary Must be able to work on campus, for in-person learning
